Smoking is allowed on the property, but not indoors. Guests must realize that the property is off grid, and thus electricity use, while ample in the summer needs to be monitored and respected during the winter and foggy times -- no toaster ovens, electric heaters, etc. I recommend blow dryers be used sparingly and during daylight hours.
I prefer that people take off their shoes in the bus, as it is a small space and dirt gets tracked in very easily.
Also, we compost and recycle, and because I am rural, there is no garbage pick up, so I would appreciate your taking any "landfill-type" garbage with you. Recycling and compost bins are provided.
Small well groomed dogs are allowed with prior arrangements, but NO large dogs (really only lap dogs, 10 pounds or under) and during the rainy season ask that guests bring dog towels -- no wet paws, and no sandy dogs; basically, I want guests with dogs to be super vigilant about grooming and take extra care when on the bus.
Finally, mine is a clothing optional property, though if you feel uncomfortable with that, my land mate and I will discuss refraining from public nudity. We are respectful and comfortable in our bodies and do not wish to offend or scare anyone away. Please let me know before booking if this is an issue and we will do our best accommodate your wishes -- but please note, the shower is outdoors, so there is always a chance that you will glimpse me or Yogi heading to the "shower" -- that is just life here!
I can accommadate children, as there is a "cubby bed" with bedding and cushions. However, I only accept children six and over, as the bus is definitely not "toddler proof".
Upon reservation, you will receive a guide to the property and its particulars and house rules.
I live on an off-grid property 1.5 miles north of the Pacific Ocean on HWY 1 in Southern Mendocino County, CA. I am a poet, performer, artist, teacher and yoga practitioner. I love to garden, swim, hike, dance and travel (I have been on every continent)! My property has been described as a retreat center, as I believe all life should be art, and thus everything from the bathtubs to the fireplace to the murals around the property are somehow embellished.
