The Island: Koludarc
Located on a small, quiet island with 9 privately owned, secluded houses and winding footpaths lined with white stone walls.
To get to the island, you park your car across the water on the main island of Losinj and drive a small boat to the private dock. It’s a 5-10 minute boat ride. The house is about 100 meters up the hill from the dock.
The island has a beautiful sandy cove, lined with pine trees. Its crystal clear shallow water is perfect for babies and kids, too! You can also collect pine nuts here to make your own pesto.
You can swim or ride the boat over to an even smaller island with a picturesque old lighthouse and views of the open sea.
The perfect spot to watch the sunset is a 5 minute hike up the hill behind the house. It brings you to the top of the island with a stunning, 360 degree view of the surrounding islands, Mali Losinj and the mainland.
The house is beautifully renovated: it has thick stone walls, marble and wood floors, original details and antique furniture and decorations. The thick walls keep the house pretty cool but there is air conditioning for heat spells.
The house is very spacious. There are 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, huge common areas and some small nooks for reading. (For larger groups: 2 additional bedrooms may be available on the same island, please ask!)
Everyone’s favorite feature is the captain’s cabin on the top floor, which has a small library inside and a terrace outside, both with magnificent views of the sea. Relax, enjoy the breeze and spy on boats with binoculars!
The place is great for large groups: the downstairs has an open-concept living room and kitchen. The living room has a marble fireplace and huge, comfortable couches, a large desk and a long table that can be used as desk space.
The large kitchen has a gas stove-top, electric oven, dishwasher, and a large fridge. It is fully equipped with everything you might need for cooking and serving.
Just behind the kitchen, there is an outdoor, covered/ shaded eating area with teak dining furniture that seats 14. There is an outside grill as well as a small Weber coal grill.
You can catch your own fish right on the dock, like our neighbor does, and grill it in the garden.
Stone walls surround the entire garden, giving you complete privacy. The house is set in a large garden with lawns, lush mediterranean vegetation and flowers. In the front there's a brick patio with teak furniture and lawn chairs. You can also relax in one of the hammocks or on the stone bench on the edge of the garden.
There is an outdoor shower that's perfect for washing off sea salt or cooling down after sunbathing.
The garden has a dutch tub, which is a modern, low-maintenance hot tub that you can heat by making a fire in the metal basket attached to it. It’s a perfect spot for watching shooting stars!
You can use our sea kayak, Laser sailboat, or 2 person rowboat
Landline telephone and high speed WIFI internet access
Braun mixer/chopper/egg beater
Restaurants: There are lots of restaurants just minutes away on the mainland, we can make recommendations of our favorites in Mali Losinj, Artatore, Veli Losinj and Osor.
Groceries: Koludarc only has private houses. You will need to take the boat to get groceries. There is a general store at the campsite across the water on the mainland. Mali Losinj has large supermarkets, a fish market and a fruit and vegetable market, bakeries, cafés, bars etc. There is also a DM, pharmacies, and sports equipment stores, among others.
Croatia is known for having some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. We think they’re hands-down the best. The rugged, untouched coast with its thousands of tiny islands and secluded coves and warm, clear turquoise waters is hard to beat. Some of the most spectacular beaches around Losinj require a bit of hiking, but offer the unforgettable combination of medieval towns with amazing vistas and deserted white pebble beaches below.
Swimming is beautiful right off the dock, as well as in the sandy bay (a 5 minute walk from the house). You can also use the boat to get to nearby uninhabited islands and coves on the coast for an entirely private experience.
Dolphin spotting in Veli Losinj. Losinj has at least a dozen resident dolphins who live around Veli Losinj. The dolphin center takes people out on tours to see them. But if you’re lucky (and quiet) you might see them frolicking in the water while you’re out on your own boat trip.
Learn to sail, surf and dive in Mali Losinj’s Cikat bay! You can rent mini catamarans, surf boards and sail boats and get instruction or take a course.
The area is great for road biking and mountain biking. There is a good running path in Cikat, and excellent tennis courts in Mali Losinj and Veli Losinj.
Mali Losinj has also hosted several Underwater Spearfishing World Championships recently.
You can take an island-hopping tour, visit an underwater cave or charter a private sailboat with crew for a day.
