Cute villa in a small town (only 10 houses) in the Ardeche. There are 4 bedrooms and a large living room. It's a quiet place with only a shepherd who passes the house every morning
Florine's holiday home is indeed a charming house in the mountains. It is exactly as the photos and information describe it. They have done an amazing amount of work over the years to transform a ruin into a excellent holiday home. The location is very tranquil, with beautiful views. Inside it was nice and cool - it was over 30 degrees every day we were there - and outside there was a shady table next to the BBQ, as well as another table (with more sun) on the small verandah outside the main bedroom. The house had a well appointed kitchen, lots of glasses/crockery etc and a lot of games - as well as the ping pong table. There's plenty of space for a family - even though there was only the two of us staying. And the bed was very comfortable, large and firm. We loved swimming in the nearby swimming hole. And also further afield (30 mins drive) at Lac d'Issarles. Florine provided us with good information in advance and we were met by Blanche who made sure we had everything we needed and gave us some local tips and ideas. We'd certainly recommend Florine's house to other people, especially those looking for a tranquil place to relax.
Merci.
The host's emails were very thorough, detailed and pleasant. We didn't actually meet so I cannot comment further. The neighbor who was our contact was lovely. The house was perfect for our two families and gave us a chance to "disconnect" (no wifi!) and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. Our children (between the ages of 11 and 13) had an unforgettable experience hiking, exploring, playing board games and going to the swimming hole. We will have fond memories of our summer vacation in Le Roux Bas.
