There is a separate entrance to the basement apartment, a comfortable queen size futon bed and an attached bathroom for your own use. Includes a kitchenette with stove, fridge, microwave, coffee etc. (equipment is sparse, and intended for very light cooking tasks only). We can also lend you pots/pans etc. if needed, just ask.
It is a simple, elegant, clean space and is spacious (about 22 feet long by 11 feet wide).
Guests can avail of the free cable modem wireless internet and TV via ROKU box for watching movies (one movie per night included). There is a modern washer and a dryer in the basement that guests can use with care (please ask before using, washer is HE detergent only, and family needs come first!).
We live upstairs (warning we have two kids!). We are an international couple and happy to engage or play recluse, whatever rocks your boat. Given that we are busy with work and kids, its often the latter.
We live in North Capitol Hill, a residential and quiet neighborhood, but just minutes away from the more active areas of Capital Hill. A short walk from 15th Ave (about a mile) and Broadway (mile and a half), Capitol Hill could entertain for weeks. Downtown is a short bus ride away !
15th Ave offers restaurants, groceries, pharmacy, tea, coffee shops etc. and of course, Volunteer Park.
Two bus ends and starts around the corner from our house, so you can wander out of the house a few minutes before departure.
7 mins to the first stop of the number 10 bus, which goes down 15th and Pine through Capital Hill to downtown.
2 mins to the 12, and it does the same only down 19th and Madison.
Bus 43 is a 5 min walk away and goes either downtown or north to the University of Washington, Ravenna, Green Lake, and Golden Gate Park.
Street Parking if you need it (always a spot close by)
We have a bicycle that we are willing to share
We love our house and would like our guests to be respectful of our property, garden and the rest of the house. Shoes off once you enter please. No smoking. We can discuss pets if they are small and well behaved, but in general we don't allow them. We have a sump pump system, so please no trash in the toilet and also turn the heat down when you aren't in. Please only use the kitchenette for light cooking only.
I live in Seattle, family with 2 kids (aged 12). Grew up and traveled around the world. My wife and I work downtown in the arts and energy conservation business. We are pretty easy, laid back hosts; but are also busy professionals with kids so things are a little hectic around our house during the work week and interaction is usually limited.
