We're biased of course, but we think we live in the most beautiful place on earth. Our attached guesthouse is a peaceful get-away overlooking a small pond, fields, and woods, 65 miles from the Twin Cities. It comfortably sleeps four (queen upstairs, full-sized pull out couch downstairs). We welcome visitors of all backgrounds.
We are in a very rural setting. Very peaceful, very beautiful. Perfect for writers, weekend get-aways, families who enjoy nature, or travelers who want a moment of beauty and serenity on their journey. In early fall, you will watch the leaves change and enjoy the harvest moon, the incredible night sky and the last gifts of the garden. In spring, you will be astounded by the frog songs from our pond, the wildflowers in our 60-acre woods, the ducks stopping by our pond and the flocks of migrating birds. In summer, you can explore our woods, eat from the garden or simply watch the birds that come in and out of the feeders. If you happen to be here when we're boiling sap to make syrup, or extracting honey from our beehives, you would be welcome to join in. At any time, our excellent wood-fired sauna is available for your use.
We have 60+ acres of woods, with trails. There's a big comfy hammock in the back yard, and, in season, a garden to forage in and apples to eat. Your guesthouse has a small deck with table and chairs out back, and a terrace out front with a grill. Our beautiful pond is not a swimming pond; it has too much tannin and, in summer, duckweed. It is instead a small wildlife refuge, attracting ducks, geese, herons, birds of all sorts, deer, and hundreds of frogs and toads in spring to mid-summer.
We provide a continental breakfast your first morning. We're pretty much always here, and happy to answer questions, direct you to parks, stores, restaurants, etc., or be of help however we can. But otherwise the space is your own.
The guesthouse has two floors but no door between the floors, which is why we have called it a studio (it is much larger than what one might think of as a studio.) The bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom is on the ground floor. The two floors are connected by a spiral staircase. In terms of pets, we welcome well-behaved, house-trained, non-barking dogs. Otherwise, no pets. The guesthouse has a fully-stocked mini-kitchen with all the essentials for doing your own cooking. Stores and restaurants are not nearby, so you will want to bring food as if for a stay in a cabin. We will send information about stores and restaurants on your way once you have confirmed.
- No pets except well behaved, quiet dogs please.
