Secluded Log Cabin in the Mountains with Pond
Secluded Log Cabin in the Mountains with Pond

We’re offering a comfortable, pet and kid-friendly, A-frame log cabin surrounded by 30 acres of pristine Appalachian woodland to explore and hike. We also have a 6 acre front yard complete with a 1 acre pond you are welcome to fish and relax by. After a long day enjoying all the rustic beauty and small town charm that Vermont has to offer, you can warm yourself by our pellet stove which heats both floors of our over 1,600 sq ft 4 bedroom, 2 full baths home (sleeps 8).

We have a ramp leading up to the house for easy access. We also have a crib, a high chair, and child gates for the second floor staircase if necessary. Small and large dogs are permitted. Wifi and HD TV with access to Hulu and Netflix are provided. In the mudroom/laundry room, you'll find a washer and dryer as well as heated floors, chairs, coat hooks, and boot racks to unload your winter gear on. During your stay, you will have access to a fully equipped kitchen with a stove and refrigerator, but you can also try out the various restaurants located in the area.

As our guests, you'll have the entire log cabin to yourself and your party.

As your hosts, we will be more than happy to answer any questions or listen to your suggestions. Please feel free to contact us via phone or email.

Vermont has many exciting locales and attractions available anytime of the year, but if you're not sure where to start, here are some of our personal recommendations!

FALL ~ Admire Vermont’s beautiful autumn colors, go apple picking, and hunt for the perfect pumpkin. To get some of the best views of Vermont's foliage, ride the Aerial Tram at the Jay Peak Ski Resort which is open year-round. Our personal favorite - sample the hot apple cider and cider donuts at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury!

WINTER ~ Snowshoe, snowmobile, and alpine or cross-country ski around the beautiful winter landscape. Our home is located about one mile from the VAST snowmobiling trail for easy access. The nearest ski resorts are Jay Peak and Burke Mountain. Don't forget to try our world-renowned maple syrup during local Sugar-on-Snow get-togethers, and be sure to dress warmly!

SPRING ~ Fly-fish Vermont’s rivers, go golfing, or hike the Green Mountain range. Fish for bass, trout, and sturgeon in Lake Memphremagog. We don't have so much a "spring" season as a mud season, so if you’re feeling adventurous, take an ATV and mudbog!

SUMMER ~ Swim, boat, and fish at Crystal Lake and Lake Willoughby. There are several blueberry and raspberry picking areas nearby as well. In Barton you can attend the Orleans County Fair which runs through mid-August. You can also beat the heat at Jay Peak Ski Resort's fully enclosed water park in Jay or visit the world famous Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory in Waterbury.

We hope you enjoy your stay!

We stayed at the Secluded Cabin for a weekend in early November. We were in the area specifically to visit friends, so I can't attest to area attractions, other than the town/area itself is beautiful. The house was perfect for us and absolutely loved by my kids. VERY kid friendly (bunk beds!) with great outdoor space to run and play. We were so happy we stayed here with our kids over other, what looked to be similar, properties. The hosts provided some welcoming touches and a ton of local information that was very helpful. Communication with the host was fast and check-in could not have been easier; house rules were very reasonable and easy to follow. The entire experience was awesome and I would highly recommend this home.
Thank you very much, Shauna. You and your family were truly great and courteous guests. We always try to make our cabin as welcoming as possible to all of our guests, especially families with kids, and we are glad that you all really enjoyed your time here. If you’re ever up here visiting friends again, we’d love to have you and your family stay again too.

A very well kept, large home which is ideal for those with children, dogs or other people which require lots of space. Thomas clearly cares very much for the home. There was everything we needed and nothing we didn't. He left a few refreshments out for our arrival. He also supplied a very thorough and easy to read manual which was helpful. Communication was easy and straightforward. House rules were also very straightforward and reasonable. The house is on a dead end dirt road with only a few homes on it so traffic is minimal which is also important if you have children or dogs walking off leash. It is also within minutes of the highway so you are never far away from anything. Lovely home, great host, amazing weekend. Thank you Thomas
Thank you so much for the thoroughness and thoughtfulness of your review, Victoria. My family and I are so happy that you had such a great time at the cabin. We have pets ourselves which are more like our kids, but it can be difficult to travel with them since many people don’t take them in. That’s why when we listed our cabin, we wanted our guests to be able to enjoy their vacation with their furry family members in a safe and spacious environment. We’re so thrilled you had a great, relaxing time. You were a wonderful guest, and if you ever find yourself in our neck of the woods, we’d love to have you stay again.

Our family had a great stay here. Thomas was quick with his responses and very helpful. We ventured to the Northeast Kingdom to explore the area more- mountain biking in Burke and exploring Newport. We have three young children (9, 7, 5) and they loved the house and surrounding yard and pond. They could have easily spent the entire time there- the play structure was perfect and the pond was a constant source of entertainment- including the kayak. The house was very comfortable- everything we needed. Thomas was thoughtful with some VT gifts left out for us to enjoy and he had a very easy to use and resourceful binder with everything we needed to make our stay a great one- fantastic kid movie selection! The pellet stove made the place even cozier and there was plenty of room for everyone to sleep. Families with small children would find what they need- high chair, crib, even gates to set up. The house had a beautiful wrap around deck with comfortable furniture and the view was just lovely- especially now in the fall. We could easily enjoy more time there. We highly recommend!!
Thank you so much for a great review, Anja. My family and I put a lot of care into making sure every guest’s stay is an enjoyable one. You and your family were fantastic guests, and if you ever find yourself in the NEK again, our cabin is always open to you.

Nice place to stay.. Tom is very helpful. Value for money.
