Coromandel Bach @ Otama Beach
2 - 12岁

Our original Kiwi bach overlooks one of the Coromandel Peninsula's most beautiful beaches - Otama. It's like stepping back into another time but with all modern conveniences. Eclectically styled, we're very proud to say we were featured in the December 2016 edition of NZ House & Garden magazine.

Nestled beside our newly built home The Bach offers a unique view of the northern end of the beach and Great Mercury Island.
This small but charming one room double accommodation offers a kitchenette, bbq, rods and kayaks – everything for a perfect stay at the beach including sand chairs and beach towels. There's an outdoor sink and bench for you to do dishes or clean and fillet your catch and a guest BBQ for you to cook it on.
If you're an early morning bird then there's no more perfect place to Salute to the Sun than on your own private deck with the yoga mat provided, listening to the sound of the waves.

There's free wifi and a decent iPod/iPhone sound system as well as lots of games and jigsaw puzzles if the weather should turn nasty. A rustic outdoor solar shower if you want to get in touch with nature or the shared modern bathroom which is a few steps away in the main house.
Located two minutes walk from the beach, you'll wake up to birdsong and the crashing of waves.
On a fine day enjoy breakfast outside with the start up provisions provided, all homemade and locally sourced, they include free range eggs, granola, fruit, natural yoghurt, seasonal preserves and a fresh loaf of bread. There's also a range of teas' to enjoy when ever you want as well as fresh coffee. The fridge is stocked with ice and soda water and there's always a small, sweet indulgence to enjoy. Visit us in the winter and you'll find a pot of soup and a loaf of fresh bread waiting for you.

We live in the new house across the way so help is always on hand or just to share a glass of wine at sunset. Twist Joce's arm and she'll be persuaded to go kayaking with you!

Otama is one of New Zealand's most private and beautiful beaches – 2kms of pristine white sand and safe swimming. Out of season you can often have the beach to yourself and if you're very lucky you might catch sight of a pod of dolphins or orca!

But if you're looking for more then we're only a 10-minute drive from Kuaotunu Village with the world famous (in the Coromandel!) Luke's Pizza Kitchen (live music at the weekends, plus a café, small gallery and general store. Although a small beach village, Kuaotunu has lots of amenities on hand, a hairdresser, beauty salon, nail bar and masseuse, we're happy to make forward bookings on your behalf. It also has one of the only two, privately owned Observatories in New Zealand which gives astronomy enthusiasts a chance to view our spectacular southern hemisphere night sky free from light pollution. Bookings are essential.

Located halfway between Coromandel Town and Whitianga, Otama is an easy drive to most Coromandel destinations: Historical Coromandel township with the quirky Driving Creek Railway. Hot Water Beach - we'll even lend you a spade to dig your own hot sea water spa pool or if you can't be bothered to dig there's the beautiful Lost Spring hot pools in Whitianga. An hour's driving takes you to Cathedral Cove and Hahei or in 30 minutes there's New Chums Beach - voted one of Lonely Planet's top 10 beaches!

The Mussel Barge fishing trips which leave from Coromandel harbour are an excellent fun day out for everyone. Even if you're a land lubber or have never fished before, seasickness is kept to a minimum as the barge stays inside the harbour and you're nearly always guaranteed
of catching something.

If golf is more your thing then there's two world class golf courses within an easy thirty minute drive of the beach.

We're a 3-hour drive from Auckland and the Auckland-Coromandel Town ferry service runs daily in the high season and has to be one of the world's most scenic island cruises. Likewise travelling by car along the Pacific Highway when the pohutukawa trees are in blossom can take your breath away.

All reviews about this guesthouse and hosts speak for themselves - really can't fault it. If you want a relaxed, unique and comfortable holiday in an absolutely stunning location with lovely hosts - this is it.

Had an incredible stay at this absolute gem of a kiwi bach! Could easily stay forever... Wonderful hosts, fabulous location, every little detail taken care of. Absolute perfection.

What a beautiful bach in a truly stunning location - the beach is practically your own! I loved my stay here - a place to reflect, unwind and relax. Jude and Joce were lovely! Very welcoming and friendly ladies who helped me with all my queries, took me to yoga and settled me in with a glass of wine as the sun set. Highly recommend staying here if you want to escape for a few days! Thank you both!

Joce and Jude put the 'awe' in awesome! Cleanliness, Accuracy and Location top notch. This is a humble piece of kiwiana that Richard and I so appreciated experiencing. I knew from our first communication with Jude that this was the place for us and we certainly were not disappointed.

We had an amazing stay at Jude and Joce's place! It is exactly as it looks in the pictures, if anything better! We had very mixed weather and it was wonderful to hideout from the storm where we could play games and enjoy a glass of wine or 2. Then when the sun came out it's literally a 2 minute walk to the beautiful beach! We hope to visit again, thank you!

This is a gem of a place. It's relatively isolated but a picturesque drive will take you to a general store. Start up breakfast provisions are very generous including a home baked loaf of bread. You could easily sit on the veranda of the Bach and watch the waves and the birds or you could amble down to the beach to walk, fish, swim or kayak. It's a nice uncomplicated way to live for a few days.

The Bach is the perfect spot for sunny, quiet and relaxing holidays at the beach. We highly recommend this place as it is just perfect and all we were looking for! Don't think twice if the description suits you - it is just as Jude has described it. The beach is stunning and at this time of the year we were mostly by ourselves - it almost felt like a private beach! The Bach certainly has lots of flair and the bed is super comfortable. Thanks again for Jude and Joce for being such amazing hosts.

I'm an expat Brit who was fortunate to escape the city for a life of beach living and I've never looked back. Jocelyn is a Kiwi who fulfilled her dream of building a new house on a piece of land she's owned for over 35 years, it's situated on one of NZ most beautiful beaches. Together we host guests in the original Bach which was relocated to the other corner of the site.

We're both intrepid travellers, here in Godzone as well as overseas and we've enjoyed being guests at other Airbnb destinations. I love to cook for guests and friends, enjoy reading or just walking the beach. Joce enjoys kayaking, gardening and the great outdoors. Come and join us for sundowners on the deck, we'd love to meet you.
