We loved staying with Christopher! He has a great flat in a convenient area of Bushwick. It’s an incredible location for a young person or couple - one block from the train station, bustling restaurants, and eclectic bars. He was very friendly and warm, we never felt uncomfortabl…
It's in a bad location. If you are female then don't book on your own as I felt extremely vulnerable in the area. The host seemed nice when I met him on the stairs but I felt very scared and considered finding emergency accommodation else where.
Sorry to hear that your experience was not good. Without coming off too presumptuous it sounds like you are just very unfamiliar with NYC in general. This part of brooklyn is extremely safe. For someone who is not familiar Brooklyn, and many of its popular areas, can be very industrial in some parts and indeed sometimes gritty looking, However, this area is considered among one of the safest in Bushwick. It's just not true that the metro is far as it is exactly 1 block down Jefferson st, The second entrance is the only place to purchase a metro card and that is merely 3 blocks on Wyckoff and Starr. As for communication I reached out to you August 16th (10 days before your arrival) with absolutely no response from you. You wrote me a letter about the wifi which I promptly gave you once I was home the next day. I saw you on the stairs and said hello, but you seemed skittish and nervous and didn't even stop to talk. There's nothing wrong with how I gave you the information to the building considering it's all self check-in therefore no need for me to greet you considering you already knew it was "Self-Check-In". You were sent a private message from me immediately upon your booking with the building code and lockbox. The lockbox is safely secured to an iron banister within the building to maximize comfort and safety. My apartment was clean before you arrived, however you left bags of toiletries and your own used personal towel on the floor for me to clean up, which was confusing and messy, but not a huge deal. Since you didn't experience any actual noted threat and just felt scared and unsatisfied I would have to assume that you are just hyper-sensitive, which is fine and not my place to criticize, but perhaps big cities aren't for you. Also, it might be in your benefit to do some research about the city you are visiting. NYC is a big place with lots of neighborhoods. Some have tree lined streets and some have cement factories in them. Both can be safe, both can be dangerous. Mine is a safe one and is accurately represented. Again, sorry that you felt this way, but it seems to be that it was way more of a personal problem than it was related to my place.
