We don't know how this apartment compares to others in this price range in Sarajevo, but we've stayed at a dozen other Airbnb accommodations over the past 7 weeks in the Balkans--including Bosnia--and enthusiastically recommended each one. Unfortunately, we would not recommend this one to others in its current state.
When we requested one of Faris' smaller accommodations in town, he offered this one to us at the same price, assuring us that we would have a good review of the place. He was very responsive to our questions before our stay, and even helped to arrange a taxi to the airport at the end of our stay.
The apartment is conveniently close to the old city. It's a steep uphill walk of less than 10 minutes from the Cathedral to the apartment. The Markale Market and two small groceries are also close by. The front of the apartment, however, is right against a moderately busy side street. You can regularly hear the loud whining engines of taxis accelerating up the steep hill throughout the day and occasionally at night.
When we arrived, we were met by a very kind lady who lived in the building, and didn't know a word of English. She was able to show us around and scrounged up cooking utensils for us when we asked, but she directed us to contact the "agency" if we had any questions during our stay. This was the only Airbnb place we stayed where no one was available on site for us to come to for help.
The place is much bigger than the two of us needed. In fact, the space feels like a hostel. The large bedroom has four simple single beds with no other furniture or decor, just like a dorm room. There's a large living area and a dining table that seats six. The place was not as clean as any of the other Airbnb places we've stayed at. The kitchen was grimy. We had to clean the sink, refrigerator, and counters ourselves before using them. There was some dirt on one of the beds. The place doesn't ventilate well, so the rooms and furniture had a strong smell of cigarette smoke. Also, one shower door was missing and the other one was stuck open, causing water to cover the bathroom floor when we took a shower.
Faris has several other Airbnb listings in Sarajevo which might have been better options for us. Faris was very helpful arranging our accommodations, arrival, and departure, so I'm hopeful that others' experience with his other listings is more positive. I'm also hopeful that subsequent reviews of this apartment report improvements that make it better reflect what one expects from an Airbnb listing.
