Overall, my husband, 4-year-old daughter and I were happy with our stay at Chris's maisonette The photos online are a good representation of its appearance. The rooms were a comfortable size, especially the bedrooms and bathrooms and altogether the house was relatively spacious. It was recently renovated and is light and airy because of the big windows. It's three stories so there are a lot of steps, which was not an issues for us but is something to be aware of. Chris has a nice collection of toys and books, which my daughter loved to play with and added a nice touch to our stay.
It is very central -walking distance to the beach, and steps away from the train station and lots of shops and restaurants in St. Leonards. We arrived at night and at first King's Road was a little off putting, but as we got to know it during the rest of our stay, we felt comfortable and grew to like it. It has an eclectic mixture of people, stores, pubs and restaurants and seems to be becoming more and more trendy.
Chris was friendly and was easy to get in touch with throughout our stay. He did not meet us when we got there but we met him the next day because there was a serious plumbing issue on our arrival. Fortunately he was able to come to St. Leonards and resolve it by the next morning.
There are a few areas that could be improved upon. We felt that rooms could be more thoroughly cleaned. I spent some time cleaning and dusting after we arrived. Ideally, we also felt that if some of the furniture and soft furnishings were upgraded slightly it would make everything look fresher and compliment the renovation that had already been done. Finally, Chris does not live in St. Leonards which provided some logistic challenges with getting and returning our keys.
On a whole, though, everything worked out well and we had a good stay.
