Before I get into the full details about this rental package, I must include a very important caveat, which I like to make very clear. Staying on a house boat is not quite like staying in a hotel. You will encounter a few challenges and inconveniences such as the extra effort it takes to load yourself and bags into a dinghy and motor out to the houseboat.
While transporting to and from the land via the dingy, you may have to do so in the rain and strong winds. After check in, kayaks are provided as primary transportation. Although rare, If the winds are really strong, you may not be able to use the kayaks at all and may need to wait out the weather. My point is, there is a little bit of roughing it. Simply put, a houseboat is like an RV on the water. Sometimes the unexpected will happen and there is a little bit more effort and work involved.
Having said all that, there usually is a payoff for the extra work and effort of staying on a houseboat: sights and experiences of the natural world (blazing stars at night, fish jumping, dolphins and manatees coming by to say hello, relaxing kayak rides, sun tanning on the 300 sqft roof top party deck, sipping margaritas while watching a sun set over the bay, waterfront grilling and fishing from outside your front door), sights and experiences you will never get at a hotel or a land lover dwelling.
Okay--if I haven't dropped you by now, on to the details about your rental package and the boat.
The houseboat, which is 44 feet long and 14 feet wide, a full bathroom with a large shower and standard size toilet. Include 1 motored dinghy for check in and check out, 2 adult and 1 childs ocean kayaks, a complete kitchen, and a spacious living room with a fold out queen sofa bed. An air mattress is stored in the hold and a 6 ft memory foam bean bag. (easily sleeps 6+ adults)
Sleeping arrangement as a quest are either in the queen sofa couch, the 6 ft bean bag or up on the social deck under the stars. Entire home will be shared with the owners.
Boat is powered by a battery bank which provides power for everything such as the lights, water pumps, power outlets, fans and Refrigerator. Ac Units and microwave if used require the generators which is billed seperatly at only $5.00 per hour used. Average usage is 1-2 hours a day to run the AC, microwave and charge the battery bank. Although the AC units work wonderfully, opening up the doors and windows provide a fantastic bay breeze for free. :)
Water pressure for the faucet and the shower is made possible by a 12-volt water pump that pumps water from a potable water tanks that hold a total of 55 gallons of water. The shower is fully functional with hot water heater. The built in power inverter is designed to shut off at a low battery level to allow enough charge to power the water pumps, bilge bumps and starting of the generator.
There is no wi-fi out on the water, but cell signal/reception for internet access is generally pretty good.
2 fishing poles are available at no charge. (bait or tackle is not included)
3 ocean kayaks are available at no extra charge
Clean linen, blankets, fans, dishware, silverware, cookware, cooking utensils, etc are provided at no extra charge.
The water tanks, when full, should last the duration of your stay. If the tanks need to be replenished during your stay, this is an indication of over-usage or wasteful usage. Therefore, please try to be conscious of your water consumption (don't let the water run in the shower the whole time you are in the shower; don't let the kitchen faucet run while washing dishes). An additional fee of $85 for water tank refills will be required if needed during any 3 day period.
Guests who book this rental are required to apply a $300 deposit for potential out-of- the-ordinary cleaning expenses and damage. This deposit will be returned to you if you leave the yacht in reasonably good shape upon departure. The vast majority of guests are very responsible and leave the yacht in great condition, but every once in a while I get guests who leave the boats a total disaster--food all over the carpets and sofas, unwashed dishes in the sink, boat gear and equipment scattered all over the place or lost overboard. Treat our little piece of paradise as your own and we all get to enjoy.
If this boating retreat sounds like a fit for the getaway you are seeking, it would be my pleasure to help bring you and your friends and family members an awesome experience on your next visit to the Gulfport Water District. Many people come to the tampa bay area for their vacations, but only a small percentage of visitors get to see and experience up close and personal the magical natural wonder of its near shore waters.
Book now to secure your spot as only one reservation upto 7 days will be accepted in any given month.
