A cosy, bright and airy ground floor apartment with a double bedroom, bathroom and kitchen, in a quiet residential area, a ten minute walk to town and a five minute walk from the Coastal Path, on Salcombe Hill, on the east side of Sidmouth.
The apartment is lovely, perfect for two, well equipped for self catering and the bed is super comfy! Tim was away but his wife Mary was around (they live in the adjacent house) and very welcoming, friendly and helpful. She had also stocked our kitchen generously with wine, tea, coffee, eggs, fruit and more which was really nice. We loved Sidmouth - happened to be there for the Regatta which was great, lots of community spirit on show and events happening - and the town and beaches are easily walkable from the apartment (downhill there and uphill back). The South West Coast Path is accessible just along the lane, and the views over Sidmouth from there are gorgeous; we walked eastwards to Beer which was basically a day's walk with pub and picnic stops, and got the bus back. We cycled the Exe estuary from Exmouth to Exeter and back which is easily doable in a day and you can hire bikes in Exmouth. For anyone who likes road cycling challenges, the hill up to the house features in the book '100 Greatest Cycling Climbs' by Simon Warren. All in all we had no trouble filling our four days away pretty locally.
