Our little urban farm sits on a ½ acre surprisingly close to Portland’s downtown. Our home has been described as the perfect blend between a luxury hotel & hostel. It does have a certain ineffable quality & we can't wait to share it with you!
PLEASE NOTE: To save everyone time & frustration, please complete your profile with a picture of yourself, a bit about who you are and at least three verifications before requesting a reservation. This is a trust based community, and we all like to see the human that we are conversing with. Reading the entire listing (by clicking on "more" below) will likely answer most of your questions, and prevent misunderstandings. In the event that this room is booked, we have other listings at the same property here: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/3510642
THE HOUSE - Our large old farmhouse is surrounded by ever expanding gardens, an entertaining flock of chickens, a growing herd of silly goats and grassy knolls perfect for a lazy picnic. There are lots of great communal spaces to enjoy, WiFi throughout, a fire pit in the back, porches to hang out on. We have two bathroom facilities in the house, BOTH are DOWNSTAIRS (your room is upstairs): one full bath off of the kitchen and a half bath (WC) on the back porch. The kitchen is large and available for light guest use during non-peak hours. If you are a foodie and love to cook, let us know because so do we. Maybe we can share a meal during your stay. Our laundry facilities are made available for guests staying longer than a week. There is usually plenty of street parking right in front of the house (please don't leave valuables in car - here or anywhere in the city).
YOUR ROOM - Each guest room feels a bit like a hidden attic retreat. They are tucked into a corner of the second story with angled ceilings and a window bench in the dormer just begging for you to relax for a while and kick your feet up. There is a plush queen size bed with sumptuous cotton bedding to insure a restful nights sleep, a wall heater to keep the temperature to your liking and just outside of your door is a communal space on the landing with the best viewing of the sunrise in the whole house. Its a beautiful spot to enjoy your morning coffee or tea! We provide a simple coffee and tea service in the form of a hot water kettle, freshly ground coffee and a small sampling of teas. There is also a small refrigerator and a water crock.
We do not serve breakfast, but offer complimentary coffee and tea. We also welcome you to partake of fresh eggs and anything from our garden. This is a city of culinary delights and we don’t want you to miss out on any of them. We are happy to share suggestions. The list of amazing restaurants is almost inexhaustible.
We live with the aforementioned flock of chickens (outside of course), and a few mischievous goats (three does, Bellianna, Hazel & Josephina, as well as Achilles & Henry Francis, the smelly bucks). Indoors, we have an aged chihuahua who licks obsessively (Millhouse) and a Siamese cat that is the size of a small mountain lion (Sidney). The animals are, to their dismay, not allowed in the guest rooms, but they do live in the house with us. While we do vacuum regularly, those with pet allergies would likely be more comfortable elsewhere.
TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN
Children are welcome. Room rates only take into account double occupancy. If you will have a child with you there is an additional charge of $10 per night. Please let us know BEFORE booking and we will send you special offer including the additional charge. An air mattress can be provided upon request. We also request that children be supervised at all times.
LATE CHECK-INS & CHECK-OUTS can be accommodated, just let us know. We can be flexible as long as it doesn’t step on other guest's toes.
Lastly, the second floor tends to be the coolest and the warmest in the house. There are wall heaters and extra blankets for your comfort in the winter. There are a couple of fans for air circulation should you be warm during the summer. We want you to be comfortable, so we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold or are sensitive to heat, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Thanks for sticking with it to the end!

A few requests & some additional relevant information
- The entire house is cleaned top to bottom every week. The guest rooms are of course cleaned and prepared before each guest arrives. Please remember that we are a working urban farming family, not a full time hotelier with staff so if something is not up to your expectations please let us know and we will make every effort to accommodate your needs.
- It isn't easy keeping an urban farm house clean. Leaving your shoes at the door, just inside or on the porch, helps immensely (and makes it more comfortable, we'd say).
- Please no smoking on the property.
- You can make noise in the house, but PLEASE keep noise to a bare minimum after 10 pm until 7 am. We share our house with guests from different time zones, and it’s hard to know when someone is trying to sleep. Farm chores are part of our daily ritual, so you may hear us up and about earlier than 7.
We are a tiny (we’re only three inches tall!), modern (post-nuclear), 21st century family living in an big old turn of the century farm house. Amy has spent her adult life as a serial entrepreneur, starting more businesses than we care to bore you with. Frank studied architecture in New Orleans and has spent years in the design industry. Together, we are enthusiastically taking on this city farm project. Our little farm sits on a ½ acre close in to Portland’s downtown. We are living closer to our food source and building a stronger community. Here’s to building an awesome community and taking social deficits by storm….yay Airbnb!
