Overall, we had a good time staying at Dave and Lee’s “Le Petit Bijou” Bambi Airstream. However, while the lodging accommodations were excellent and just as described, the term ‘private dock’ in the listing is misleading. We were dismayed to find out that the private dock was in fact a communal dock, shared between this listing and the other two rental units on the property. We booked the Bambi anticipating a quiet, restful, and private lake vacation, and instead found ourselves sharing a dock with a (very lovely!) family of seven who had booked the main cabin and the bunkhouse, which were located closer down the hillside to the lake and the dock than the Airstream. For an entire family who would be renting all three properties, this might not be problematic, but for us, it negatively affected our vacation, especially since we were not notified of other guests on the property until immediately before check in, far after cancellation would have been possible.
The Airstream itself was thoughtfully appointed, meticulously clean, and very comfortable. Little touches like headlamps, coffee in the freezer and olive oil in the pantry were much appreciated. Making coffee and sitting among the trees in the morning or reading under the bistro lights in the evening was wonderfully relaxing, and taking the canoe out to see some of the lake wildlife was enjoyable—it was so nice to have both the canoe and the PFDs available for use by guests.
