As an Austin resident for over 20 years I have enjoyed the outdoor active and healthy lifestyle that is a strong facet of our community. Fantastic places to swim, cycle, and run have been a boon for good living. These are qualities I look for in destinations. Part of living a healthy life is eating well. Even though my diet is primarily vegan, the challenge in making beautiful plant based dishes is a delight. Austin offers many restaurants that cater to a variety of diets including vegetarian/vegan and, of course, for the meat lovers, there is fantastic Barbecue, as well as Tex-Mex and Mexican food with vegetarian and vegan options in many locations.
As a guest, I appreciate the differences in the spaces that define a person's taste. There is always something of interest in even the seemingly most mundane structures. I love learning about local cuisine and always try new foods. I hope that I have an opportunity to visit your destination and also look forward to hosting your visit to Austin, Texas.
Keep it weird y'all!
