I love the beach and the urban hike through Carkeek Park. The park entrance is pretty much right across the street from my home. Whether the salmon are returning to Piper's Creek in November or high winds are attracting the kite surfers any time of year, Carkeek Park is a great place to move the body while being in nature. I also love to garden and create spaces for sitting and watching the birds and the bees. My first career was in the hotel business, and I still enjoy creating spaces for guests to retreat and unwind as well as to work in new surroundings. I am all about art, creativity, and community. My profession is in fundraising development for arts nonprofits.
Garden Studio has always been a working studio. For years, I painted in here. Acrylics and oils have gone into a lot of paintings and self portraits. The garden has likewise been an evolving creation. Many paintings are of the garden. Paintings currently on view are acrylic and mixed media made en plein air at Harstine Island some years ago.
I aim to provide my guests a creative retreat with space to think and create along with opportunities to be in nature.
