An adorable apartment and an excellent downtown location to call home during your stay!
Comfortable and cozy light-filled 1BR apartment. Three separate rooms, all with exposed brick and decorative fireplaces which add charm and character.
Prime location in the happening East Village, but on a quiet tree-lined street.
-Spacious bedroom with big windows
-Queen-size bed with large built-in drawers for storage
-Clean linens and towels provided
-Kitchen area includes an island with stools, making it easy to eat in or enjoy a glass of wine
-Oven, stove, and fridge are all available for use
-Help yourself to dishes and cooking utensils
-Our cozy living space is small but comfy, with a couch to rest on after a long day of exploring the city
-The bathroom is also small but equipped with a full shower/bathtub
-As the apartment is located on the top floor, we get a lot of light through windows and skylights- something which many Manhattan apartments are missing!
- The apartment is located in an older but well-maintained walk-up building
-Our unit is on the 5th floor, so please keep in mind that there are 4 flights of stairs and no elevator!
- The unfinished roof is accessible- it's nice to go up for a quick peek at the view of the Empire State Building and new World Trade Center.
-There is a shared outdoor area in the back of the building with a small patio and trash&recycling.
-While the East Village is a draw for locals and tourists alike, the building is located on a quiet street.
-There are two supermarkets close by- one four blocks north and the other six blocks south. If you want to venture a little bit further, there are is a Trader Joe's (our personal favorite!) a 15 min walk or one subway stop away.
-Tompkins Square Park is right around the corner!
We have lived in multiple neighborhoods since moving to NYC, but the East Village is by far our favorite. The apartment is surrounded by excellent restaurants, bars, and clubs. You name it; the East Village has it! Whatever your scene is- trendy, hipster, romantic, authentic- you will find it here! The neighborhood is just that- a real neighborhood- filled with people who have been here for all their lives as well as newer transplants. The East Village (and the nearby Lower East Side) is where New Yorkers from all over the city venture on weekends, and there's a reason for that- it's awesome!
It's easy to access all the other amazing downtown locations from where we are- the West Village is a 10 minute subway ride, and Greenwich Village, the Lower East Side and SoHo are accessible by subway or on foot. Our proximity to Union Square also makes it easy to get to midtown and uptown areas, and take the L just one stop to trendy Williamsburg, Brooklyn!
L Train (1st Ave stop)- 5 minute walk
F Train (2nd Ave stop)- 12 minute walk
6 Train (Astor Place)- 12 minute walk
4,5,6,N,Q,R,L Trains (Union Square) -15 minute walk (or 5 mins on the L train for an easy transfer)
We are a married couple in our late 20s- Tom works as Director of Content at a start-up internet company and Steph is a PhD student studying Clinical Psychology- and we love our home! We are out of town when the apartment is available to rent, but are always easily accessible by email and are happy to answer questions, give tips, etc. We want you to enjoy our apartment as much as we do! Please note that we also have a dog (who will of course also be out of town when the apartment is available!). Though the apartment is cleaned thoroughly, if you are severely allergic to dogs please take this into consideration.
A "Third Culture Kid" who grew up overseas but lives in and loves NYC. Currently working towards a PhD in Clinical Psychology. I love to travel, explore, read, run, listen, learn, meet new people, and play with every dog I see.
