Perched on the second floor of what was originally a boat house, this home is located on the banks of Garden Island, a private 32-acre community in Lake Champlain's Converse Bay. From this spot overlooking the small ferry landing (which offers complimentary service between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.), you'll be just a short ferry ride from the town of Charlotte and a 16-mile drive from Burlington.
Step inside to find a rustic living space with wood floors, wood-paneled walls, and all the atmosphere of a classic New England cabin. Gather with your loved ones to play cards around the coffee table, choose a book to read in a plush armchair, or use the island-wide WiFi to plan outdoor excursions for the days ahead.
Get your day off to a delicious start in the full kitchen, which is equipped with basic appliances, a few pots and pans, and all the necessary tools for whipping up family meals. Drizzle your pancakes with local maple syrup and take a seat in the sunroom to sip your coffee and read the morning newspaper.
Leash up your dogs to take a walk on one of the island's many woodland trails, keeping in mind that a two-dog maximum and a small nightly fee apply. When you come home, you can fire up the gas grill for lunch, play tag or capture the flag on the grassy lawn, or challenge your kids to a badminton tournament.
Borrow a canoe, kayak, paddle boat, row boat, or sailboat and spend the afternoon out on the water of Converse Bay. Teach your kids to fish for smallmouth bass, sunbathe on the island beach, or take a dip in the cool lake waters. Just be home in time for an al fresco dinner, an evening game of charades, and sunset views of the surrounding lake and mountains.
At night, this three-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage will accommodate as many as six guests. There are two cozy bedrooms with a full-size bed apiece, as well as a third bedroom with a set of twin beds. A queen-size futon in the living room provides additional sleeping space. Extra amenities include a shared, coin-operated washer and dryer to take care of your laundry needs.
Thanks to its quiet atmosphere and spectacular position on the shores of Converse Bay, Garden Island is a celebration of the simple summer pleasures of Vermont. You'll be just 39 miles west of golf and other summer activities at Sugarbush Resort, and only 49 miles from the gorgeous peaks and trails of Stowe.

The property shall not be used by more than the number of adults and children listed in your reservation.
All guests shall abide by the Companys good neighbor policy and shall not engage in illegal activity. Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
The responsible renter must be at least 21 years of age (or the specified minimum age required to rent the property, if higher). Guests under 21 years of age are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
No smoking is permitted anywhere on the premises.
Renter is liable for any damage to the property should damage occur during occupancy.
