This is a newly appointed space at the edge of the 900-foot Waipio cliffside with modern amenities: large walk-in closet, four-post teak queen bed, 180 square foot private deck with peek-a-boo ocean views, walk-in shower, kitchenette with granite counters, toaster, coffeemaker, small TV, propane BBQ, small fridge, hot plate, housewares. Your suite has two private entrances, and is very quiet. (Except maybe for the coqui frogs at night!)
The guest suite, or Ohana, is located on an acre of property covered in lush flora- most of which is edible. The views from the cliff edge are one of a kind. The valley, sky, ocean, and Maui views are ever-changing.
We are very into sustainability- the house runs on a fraction of the energy it generates via solar, and we grow more food than we know what to do with at time
Being avid travelers ourselves, we are happy to share some local advice and tips with you to help make your visit as pleasant and fulfilling as possible.
Access is to the entire guest suite, adjacent to but completely separate from our main home.
It rains here on occasion...bring a rain jacket or poncho if you own one. We can probably also dig up extras if needed though.
A 4-WD is helpful if you plan to explore all that Waipio valley has to offer. Of course, it can be done on foot as well. Sometimes we drive down for a surf, swim, or hike. If so come along and hitch a ride!
Coqui frogs - they are certainly a presence after dark and can be boisterous little guys at night. White noise for some, more bothersome for others. If likely the latter, consider white noise apps and/or ear plugs to silence the nature.
Earthquakes - we occasionally have some small tremblers!
- No shoes inside please. Please remove footwear before entering the ohana
We travel a fair bit ourselves, but when we are in town (and not working) we would be happy to show you in if you would like. Otherwise, we leave you to enjoy the space and property on your own.
