The main surprise about this place was how close it is to the busy main road. The little cottage apartment is literally 20 yards behind a wooden gate that butts up to the main sidewalk. I could hear cars and car stereos blaring late into the night. Also, they did not have a way to lock the front gate and as a single woman traveling alone, I felt unsafe. I requested the host to take care of this but he did not respond. The only lock is the one on the glass front door of the cottage. For a little bit more money I rented a beautiful Suite at Seahawk Divers in town. They had a security watchman, great amenities and were in a secluded spot away from the street but much closer to the beaches. Good things about Luis's place were quiet AC, nice furnishings, water was provided. Also, Luis was gracious to hold on to my jacket that I left behind so I could pick it up.
Luis' place is private, spacious and stylishly decorated. The bed sheets were soft, the towels were fluffy and the house had everything I needed. I was meant to stay for a week but ended up staying nine days, it was just perfect. It is a little out of town but no more than a 15 minute cycle or 30 minute walk. Luis was on hand for any questions I had about the island and was always pleasant - the perfect host. I would stay in his place over a hotel any time.
