Two loving men live in my house while I am traveling. They both host a community vibe and love people.
You will be having the blue room, which has a bunk bed. You'll share amenities with my two other (long stay) guests. You can use the desk with the spare monitor there to work.
About the house:
It has a warm interior with lots of light. There are two terraces. On top is a beautiful penthouse with roof terrace overlooking the entire neighborhood. It's situated next to central station, within 10 minutes walking distance of the centre. It's a 2 minute walk to Dutch, Turkish & Moroccan shops. 10 minutes to canals and houseboats, with beautiful scenery and parks.
It is an old house (1908) with 3 floors, with lots of bare wood (doors, stairs, floors) with an interior that has a special warmth to it.
It is the only house in the district that per accident was allowed to build another story onto, so that makes it rather special. The roof terras is facing the south and the all-glass patio enables all the light to come in.
The first floor has a large living room and large kitchen with a small adjacent terrace. The kitchen is fully equipped, and has a dishwasher and microwave/oven combo.
This floor also has an excellent hifi setup with a grammophone player. You can airplay music over the speakers (airport).
On this floor you will also find a modern washroom with a japanese toilet seat. Very comfortable and addictive!
The second floor has a bedroom (green), the bathroom (shared), and a blue room with a bunkbed. The blue room also holds the washing machine, which can be used (see the house manual for operation).
The third floor is a penthouse with beautiful view, and can have bedding for 2 more people. It has a small basin to wash up.
There's a 50 inch plasma flat screen with a universal remote, and a Mac Mini ("Guest" access) with remote keyboard at your disposal. You can airplay music over the speakers upstairs as well.
You will get an electronic key to the front door.
All of the house is available. Nothing is off limit, except for the green sleeping room which is occupied by a long stay guest.
I will not be around, and am only available per email or (website hidden), so you have total privacy and peace.
It is at walking distance from the center and the canals, and next to the central train station.
It is under 300 yards walking to the market-like famous "kanaalstraat" in "Lombok", the small multicultural district next to mine. It houses many Turkish and Moroccon shops and markets, and there is (email hidden)ly atmosphere and lots of good food of different qualities.
My house is situated just far enough from Lombok to enjoy the silence of my district called "Nieuw Engeland".
Public transportation is very good in the Netherlands, and can be planned online. I do advise each person to get a public transportation card (the kind you put credit on) that makes it cheap and easy to get around. It costs under or just above 1 euro to get anywhere in Utrecht. It also works in trains and it's only 25 minutes by train to get to Amsterdam.
You will stay in the blue room. You can enter every other space, except the green sleeping room which is occupied by a rentee. Another rentee sleeps on the top floor, but that floor is also for communal activities including morning practices. The rentee likes it this way :) So please communicate, be respectful of each other and try bring a community feeling instead of a Hotel Mentality.
I will not be around, as I am traveling. But I have two long stay rentees. They are both very open minded people trying to cultivate a community feeling. They have daily practices such as yoga and meditation, and we hope you can align with that. In fact, I invited these two beautiful people to make that happen :)
Please feel free to use my stuff, but make conscious decisions when you do :)
And please connect with the others, as they are awesome human beings, and it will make your stay much more pleasant and easy.
Please look at the house rules first. No smoking indoors please.
Let's also be clear about the following:
* ALL guests are supposed to sit down on the toilets, so no standing and peeing!! There are more people living there, and male pride must not get in the way of hygiene and other peoples pleasurable toilet experience ;)
* Material belonging to the house may be used under the assumption that it is to be put back as is (cleaned and well maintained).
* Hotel mentality is not desirable. Please use common sense. I would love to return to my house seeing it intact and knowing it has been treated with respect.
My long stay guests are both very aware of this, and will report any misbehaviours. The house is not a hotel to be abused.
Now that we have that out of the way, I would love for you to use my herbs, spices, pots and pans (please clean the pans with hot water only!). Just fill up what you think needs filling up afterwards please.
The pots, pans and especially the knives should be treated with care:
* Don't scratch the pans with fork or other sharp stuff like metal utensils.
* Cover the pans coating with cloth when you store other pans on them.
* The knives should be cleaned immediately by hand afterwards and put back on the magnetic knife holder on the wall.

I am into yoga and mindfulness, and doing good to myself and others.
