This is the perfect space for a larger gathering--the coach house is a private self-contained space with a private entrance, and the two top floor bedrooms / bathroom are further spaces for your party to stay. Via AirBnB, we rent these individual spaces but often have requests for all 3 together. Note the top 2 bedrooms are part of a family home, but the coach house is a private, stand-alone residence linked by a courtyard to the main house. Take a look--see if this is right for you!
We have rented three amazing spaces via AirBnB for several years and have enjoyed the variety of guests we welcome into our home. This new listing puts all three spaces together into one listing to encourage the occasional large groups to consider renting our home and coach house for their visiting needs. It doesn't fit the AirBnB tick boxes exactly--It is not the full house to yourself, but you do have the stand alone, privately accessed coach house (you would enter via the garage to the garden where the Coach house is--situated in our private garden with its own semi-private terrace overlooking the garden. There is ample FREE on-street parking outside the house on the suburban road with light traffic, though no private parking on the drive. The two inside rooms are on the top floor inside our family home, so you would be able to enter through either the side door from the coach house courtyard, or via the front door. Therefore please note these spaces are not 'an entire home to yourself' as they are within our family space. You do have your own bathroom shared between the two guest rooms and a mini-kitchenette complete with fridge, toaster, toaster oven, kettle and dishes. The blue bedroom has a little table and chairs so you have some independent for light eating, as well as the coach house has a little kitchen and seating for two people comfortably. The blue room has room for a 10th bed air mattress on the floor. You are also welcome to use our main kitchen--a chef's kitchen within the main house, before 5pm and after 7pm for eating as a larger group. The one downside to this space for a larger group is that aside from the kitchen, there is not a communcal space where a larger group can 'hang out.' This is the perfect space for independent rooms with spaces for its occupants, but is not ideal for long spaces of leisure time as there is no common area for 9 people other than the kitchen. I hope this description is clear for you. Any questions, please ask. Please note this is a fully non-smoking space. We prefer to not host smokers as the smell of smoke could linger for future guests.
Guests can access the two top floor bedrooms and bathroom they share (this is exclusively your bathroom--it is not used by the family) and the kitchenette right outside these rooms, the family kitchen aside from the hours of 5-7pm, the entire coach house and the garden. There is an additional full-sized bath and shower room on the middle floor of the main house guests are welcome to use if they need more bathroom space, and there is a .5 toilet connected to the coach house if necessary--this is sometimes used by those in the garden so is not advertised for your exclusive use. You are welcome to it! You are welcome to use our outdoor ping pong table, pizza oven and fire pit, too! Just ask and we can show you how things work.
Although this is a family home, your space is your own and we respect your need for quiet and relaxation. The coach house has a SKY box and the blue and green rooms have TVs for playing with an HDMI cable so you can watch your own Netflix/Amazon from your own computer, DVD, alarm clock and loads of strong wifi. You will be offered high quality linens, a cozy dressing gown and fluffy towels. Anything further you require, just ask! Please note we do not provide breakfast, although we keep the top floor and coach house areas stocked with tea and coffee. You will have ample space and shelving on both the top floor and coach house to store your own food/milk, etc. and of course, you are welcome to use our downstairs kitchen for cooking meals. For a quick bite on the top floor, you will have your fridge and microwave just outside your door on the top floor landing.
You are also welcome to use our American sized washer/dryer to refresh your laundry if you are travelling. We have a number of guidebooks and can recommend insider tips for touring the Midlands. We do recycle but are not religious about it. Should you wish to recycle, you may leave your plastics/papers/metals in the kitchen pantry (double doors across from back door in kitchen) or put them directly in the blue lidded bins in the courtyard toward the Coach House. Rubbish goes out every Thursday night for Friday collection, and Recycling goes every other Friday. If you need any lightbulbs or repairs done in your space during your stay, simply get in touch. We want to ensure things are fixed right away. We do have foxes in our garden from time to time which can trigger the security lights. Sometimes this can be alarming, but just be aware that they are just a bit of wildlife in the city. If you need any other kitchen utensils for your time with us, just ask. We try to keep the kitchen stocked with items that you may need, but we are always happy to invest in something else that might make your stay better. Finally, the Coach House is a converted old barn for the horses in for the main house, built in 1889. We converted it in 2008 but were unable to do much with the ceiling height in the shower room. If you are very tall, please be mindful that you may find the shower area a bit fun to work with--the downstairs toilet may be more comfortable with you, but please mind it is unheated as it is technically an outside loo--just made clean and secure for an additional space for the Coach House guests. We hope you can find this feature of Coach House living charming.
- We request quiet between the hours of 11pm-7am and no shoes in upstairs spaces.
