Yadira from CubaTargets is a wonderful person and her agency is excellent. She was helpful in coordinating an amazing transportation service as well as coordinating some excellent restaurant recommendations. Overall, she deserves no blame for what turned out to be a bad experience with the property, La Pimienta Casa El Hostal 8. For starters, you live with the property owner and his family as well as the staff. As a result, they exact strict rules on what you can do on the property after 11pm: NO SWIMMING AND NO MUSIC AND NO "LOUD" CONVERSATION. As such, after a long day of traveling and sweating in the hot July weather, we always had a desire to go swimming, quietly, in the pool and sample a cigar an chat with one another about our amazing day. However, we were limited to hushed vices on one of the extremes of the property, as far away as possible from the owner's home so as not to disturb them. On top of this, when we "got too loud" we could have a security guard chastise us and ruin the mood. Additionally, the bathroom situation needs o be mentioned: the toilets barely work and you have to throw away the toilet paper in a trash can next to the toilet. This would not be a problem if they were cleaned, daily, but, the cleaning crew only arrived every 3 days and, as such, with the incredible heat warming up the bathroom during the day, you can imagine the end result of this. Furthermore, the showers had a lot of exposed wiring which electrocuted every one of our party while taking a shower.
Another major issue with this place is that they enter your room when you are away to turn off the air conditioning. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that, upon doing so, our group was robbed of over $600! When I confronted them, it was all denials and no accommodation.
I want to reiterate that Yadira is excellent but the property and the property owner are terrible and you should avoid staying here. The location is only good if you want a beach vacation as it takes 30+ minutes to get to downtown Havana. The beach is gorgeous and there are some great restaurants in the town, namely El Cubano and Restaurante 421, but if you are seeking touristic adventure in Havana, I suggest you stay closer to the city.
I would contact Yadira and CubaTargets directly so you can find better places and so you can work wi h the drivers ALEJANDRO and David.
