A comfortable, well-loved base for a night or two in tucked-away-from-roads, terrace house (academic’s home) right in centre of Totnes near market -10 mins walk from station, 2 minutes from the High Street (2 bedrooms, one small - extra £15 for using both). Homely kitchen with Aga stove, living rooms, small gardens back and front.
I have travel cot and high chair freely available - though house not child-proofed!
One of two rooms will be available (or possibly both). A 'front' bedroom looking over the hills, with double bed and desk... and a smaller bedroom - again with double bed and desk. You need to be happy to coexist in little terrace house with owner - open stairs from kitchen to upper levels. Middle floor is yours - and bathroom opposite your room your own from 6pm til 10 am, then shared.
Make coffee, tea in kitchen at your leisure. Chairs in front little garden as well as under tree shade in back garden. Living room with TV available for use freely at any time.
House has one bathroom with shower and a bath, and extra toilet on ground floor.
I work at home (in attic on 2nd floor) - so will be in and out during your stay.
Will welcome you and leave you to own devices - or chat a little as you will. Glad to provide light breakfast. Check out 10am. Check in after 4.30pm - but no dinner provided - lots of eating places within 10 mins in all directions on foot. Glad to help you orient yourself and lend maps etc.
Would be glad if you can respect the 10am departure time. Thanks
As well as teaching cultural studies at undergraduate level half of each year, I have worked a lot with young people and issues of sexual safety and health - and in a range of refugee contexts internationally. I recently worked on a film supporting boys and men become more aware of sexual safety. I'm now also involved in building local support for integration of refugees.
