I never met Maria, but she sent me all the info I needed to enjoy my stay beforehand. You basically check yourself in and out, which is cool. The only "staff" you're likely to see everyday is the cleaner, who is very nice. It's very private and very quiet. If you're worried about parties, don't be. BRING YOUR OWN TOWELS-- there was none. It wasn't the most clean accommodation I've ever visited, but when you're basically just there to sleep and shower, it's not a huge issue. There are LOTS of stores nearby-- Bonus for cheaper stuff, and Hagkaup which is 24 hours and has a Krispy Kreme, haha. Note that this isn't within walking distance to the touristy parts of Reykjavik, but the city bus runs very frequently and is only a 3-5 minute walk away. Regardless, very good value for what it offers. If you aren't afraid of taking the bus (and don't be), it's a great place to stay. Thanks Maria!
