Clean, cozy, minimalist 2-BR historic home, minutes to downtown in an old residential Athens neighborhood, just two blocks from the Trail Creek and Oconee River Greenways and Trail Creek Park, each with walking/jogging and hiking trails, mountain bike trails, and one with a sports complex and splash pad! 1.3 mile walk to Sanford Stadium, under .5 mile to The Classic Center, and 1 mile between the house and the other side of downtown.
Our home is a millhouse built in the 1930's. It's recently been renovated, and great lengths were taken to return it as close to its original design, but with a modern approach. We are very proud to have received a 2017 historic preservation award for "outstanding rehabilitation".
The master bedroom contains a king-sized bed and a full bathroom with its original claw-foot tub for soaking. It is also outfitted as a shower. The bathroom offers towels and washcloths, shampoo and conditioner, soap, cotton swabs and a hairdryer, in addition to Epsom salts, because traveling can wear you out!
The second bedroom contains a queen-sized bed, and a work desk.
The living room has a couch and two comfortable chairs, several throw blankets, a turn table, and plenty of albums. There is also a blow-up mattress, should you like to use it..
There is a half-bathroom off of the kitchen, in the common area.
The front porch is screened, and perfect for getting some fresh air and people watch without the mosquitoes. The backyard is private, and nice for enjoying the night's stars. It is completely fenced at 6 ft-high, and locks from the inside for your peace of mind. Bring your well behaved canine on your trip, and feel confident that they're secure inside and out (unless they dig).
This house does contain dogs and a cat, though they will be gone during your stay. Please keep this in mind if you have any allergies.
Help yourself to borrow any books, games or puzzles during your stay.
We'll make sure to give you access to as many maps and recommendations as we can find. If you need more, please feel free to ask!
Our guests will have access to the entire home. Keep in mind, however, that this is our residence, so please treat it as you would expect someone to treat your own.
You're welcome to any of the cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc. Our closets contain our belongings, so we're happy to provide either one or two clothing racks with wooden hangers for your clothing, depending on your needs. We've been to too many Airbnb's that were lovely, but frustrating to still live out of a suitcase, so we've tried to do our best to make you comfortable.
We're happy to answer any questions that you may have about the area, or make any recommendations. We're available by phone or text, or glad to greet you in person if possible - whatever makes you most comfortable. We will be completely offsite during your stay.
My husband, Andy and I have been married for 11 years, and enjoy travelling, enjoying food and wine, spending time with friends and family, and we love Athens! We love to host, and whether it's your first time in Athens or 50th, we hope to do everything within our power to make your trip one-of-a-kind.
