Alasdair and Christopher have been running Devenport Estate in Korokoro, Wellington as a bed and breakfast since 2001. They joined airbnb in 2017. We took time out for a few years as we were both working fulltime. Now we've re-opened Devenport for guests.
Alasdair is a keen gardener and uses the grapes and apples to make wine (pinot gris) and cider. Which on arrival you're welcome to try a tasting. Professionally he's a project manager in business systems and been working in the IT sector for over thirty years. He also does radio journalism and hosts the weekly community magazine show #TheHuttZone on Wellington Access Radio. He goes under his middle name of John for radio work. He sings bass in the Cantoris Choir.
Christopher is a keen traveller and holiday planner. Useful skills if you need any help when visiting Devenport. He has a reasonable grasp of French and German if you're not confident with English. Workwise, Chris does audit and risk assurance/advisory contracts. Having worked in the UK and New Zealand.
We've got some ex-caged battery hens who now provide free-range eggs and have quite a few goldfish in the garden's various ponds. We're in-between dogs at the moment, having had spaniels for many decades.
We're both from Yorkshire and visit quite often. Wellington is our home and has been for many decades so we know the city and Hutt Valley well.
