Whether for a get-away, a stop over or an extended stay, this a great place to visit! Please check out our details... Bienvenidos, bienvenues, byenvini, welcome!
From Maine, US to Huanuco, Peru! We've enjoyed hosting airbnb guests in Maine from around the world. Now we are pleased to be the first hosts in Huanuco.
Our lovely 4th floor apt is spacious with vibrant colors throughout. It has 3 BR, 2 BA, LR, DR, K, and Office. We have 2 guest rooms. One is sunflower yellow with a built-in closet, twin bunk beds, a desk and views of rooftop gardens, neighboring buildings and the mountains. The other room is very quiet with a built in closet and a twin bed. It also has space for one of our extra wide, twin, luxury air mattresses. The full bath is semi-private, depending on whether their are other guests. If you are traveling with children or in a group we can accommodate 6 extras with air mattresses and the couch.
We are unique in that though all are welcome, we cater especially to motorcyclists. Toby is a master mechanic and runs a moto adventure tour company part-time. He grew up in Peru and is extremely knowledgeable of the culture, language, history and geography. Sara is multi-lingual and multi-cultural as well.
Come and enjoy this lovely place!
Guests have access to high speed Wi-fi, all common areas, garage and laundry facilities. We provide a full organic breakfast for $4usd per person. You may also use the kitchen. Your stay helps us to volunteer with Yapey Yurijcuna, a local NGO that helps bring dignity through vocational training to disabled Quechua people of the region.
Our schedules vary but are flexible. We enjoy sharing meals and interacting with guests, site seeing, playing cards or board games (Settlers of Catan is a favorite), or sharing a bottle of wine and life's adventures. We have taken many rides out to the lakes and mountain villages and are happy to give recommendations.
There are many historical sites in and around Huanuco including Spanish cathedrals, sports stadium, pristine lakes, pre-Incan ruins and more...
Smoking is not allowed in the apt building but feel to smoke outside.
We do not have pets but will ll consider allowing them.
Please limit the use of chemical fragrances. Just go easy and apply perfume, aftershave or lotions outside. Thanks! (We use vinegar and lemon to clean as most products use fragrances which have up to 100 undeclared chemicals, many of which are hormone disruptors and/or carcinogens.)
Thank you for your consideration.
Ours is a fairly international family. Toby grew up in Peru, Sara in New England. We raised our 4 kids in Maine, NC, Peru and Mexico. Now young adults, our kids have traveled extensively on their own and now live in the US.
We came back to Peru to help Yapey Yurijcuna and in so doing to work on a development project very close to our hearts. Airbnb is an answer to prayer to be help us fulfill these dreams.
Travel in any form is exciting for us - we just crossed the Andes from Lima with a recently repaired pick up loaded with project and teaching supplies. Fighting Lima traffic was the worst part. Finding a bathroom along the way was interesting.
Life is an adventure - God's creation is awesome. Our journey together has been challenging, fun, and many other adjectives but never boring!
We like to eat healthy and well and love to experience the cuisine of the region. Peruvian food is delicious and flavorful with only a few spicey hot dishes.
Other hobbies include reading, gardening, walking, board and card games, soccer and volleyball.
