Glamping on San Juan Island. The Foxes Den is a whimsical Earthen sleeping cabin, nestled in amongst a Douglas fir forest. Fifteen minutes drive from Friday Harbor and less then a 10 minute drive from Lime Kilm state park. The cabin sleeps 2 on a comfy queen bed and features a small sitting area and access to a separate designated bath house, complete with flushing toilet and hot shower.
The Foxes Den is an off grid sleeping cabin lovingly made of earth and salvaged materials. This sweet eco space resembles a hobbit hut and is cozy and whimsical. Battery operated lights provide the necessary power. The bathroom with flushing toilet and a hot shower is in a separate bath house only a short walk away. Please keep in mind that this cabin is not self catering.
Each morning your hosts will provide a Continental breakfast basket of fresh baked breads, fruit, juice and coffee or tea. Lunch and dinner can be enjoyed in town. We are happy to make recommendations. During the day we are happy to recommend a variety of sight seeing options such as sea kayaking, whale watching or wine tasting to name a few. Or feel free to just relax in the woods with a good book. If you aren't afraid of heights take a nap in our tree net; a lovely netted hammock 15 feet above the ground that accommodates up to 10 people and enjoys a view of sky and forest canopy.
We reside in a cabin on the property and we will welcome you on arrival. We are happy to visit and give recommendations however if you prefer to have your privacy we are happy to accommodate that as well.
The Foxes Den is located 1 mile down a country road off of Bailer Hill on the North West side of the island. As such we highly recommend a vehicle in order to access the property and allow maximum flexibility for sightseeing and seeking out meals. Road bicycles will find our road difficult to navigate and possibly dangerous. Mountain bikes are able to negotiate the access road easily however.
Cell service on the property is spotty at best and WIFI is nearly non existent.
We advise bringing a head lamp or flashlight for evening visits to the bathhouse.
Finally this property does have a pet dog. She is big, fluffy and friendly but mostly sticks close to the hosts.
