"Row across the river and leave the world behind you." Heron's View is a true 'get away from it all' holiday experience. Uniquely situated on the beautiful Percuil River with no vehicle access, upstream from St. Mawes, the property is reached by rowing boat from the boatyard opposite. A rowing boat and double sea kayak are included.
Heron's View sleeps 4 with one double bedroom and a bunk room. It has a living/dining room which has French doors onto a large deck with fantastic estuary views. Eating meals out on the deck and watching boating activities on the estuary whilst relaxing on the deck is a favourite activity!! The living room has a wood-burner and there are storage heaters. We have a TV with built in DVD player. The bedrooms and living room all have uninterrupted river views.
It has a well equipped kitchen with a microwave and fridge freezer and a lovely newly installed bathroom with an electric shower and bath.
Heron's View is situated in an elevated position above the estuary. We have a large deck with garden furniture and lovely garden area.
Please note that you need to be fairly fit and active to manage a holiday at Heron's View. You need to be able to row, pull in boats and carry luggage up quite few steps!
Due to the unique position of the property, you will need to bring your own bed linen and towels and tea towels. There is one double bed and two single beds. Duvets and pillows are provided.
On booking you will be given instructions on how to find the boat and you will need to row yourself across the river (a distance of 150m approx.) We have a full range of life-jackets for children and adults at the property.
We recommend that children, (and adults who cannot swim), should wear a life-jacket whilst on the water.
The surrounding area provides superb cliff walking around the Roseland Peninsula. There are many beautiful, uncrowded beaches to discover within a 10 minute drive and plenty of beach cafes and the many good pubs selling great food and ice creams.
Take a walk over to St. Mawes and visit the Castle followed by a cream tea at the Idle Rocks watching the comings and goings of the pretty harbour. Meander back home along the beautiful creek-side path and down through the woods to the peace of Heron's View.
Watersports abound. Canoe up to the head of the river on our sea kayak, or paddle around to St Mawes for an pasty and a pint. For the more adventurous you could discover the secret beaches at St Anthony's Head. Across the river is a sailing and windsurfing school.
Enjoy a peaceful row up stream spotting Herons, and even Sea Otters . Collect driftwood and cook marshmallows on a fire.
Go crabbing down on our beach at high tide or you could do some fishing in the estuary.
Visit some of the beautiful uncrowded local beaches which are great for swimming and snorkeling.
Catch the ferry to Falmouth from St. Mawes and visit the Maritime Museum.
Visit the many local galleries in Portscatho, St. Mawes and Veryan.
