Monplaisir is a district of Lyon, located in the eighth district of the city.
It is in this area that the Lumière brothers invented the cinema!
The district is centered around the Ambroise Courtois square where is the Institute Lumière, a museum dedicated to the cinema. In summer, the Lumière Institute organizes open-air cinema that allow you to see or review the classics (but be careful not to arrive too late to have a place on gratins installed on this occasion). In this square takes place a market every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning.
At the end of the avenue, on the place of Arsonval in the third district is the Edouard-Herriot hospital, built by the architect and urban planner Tony Garnier Lyon.
This district a spirit of village residents alongside them in the many shops of Avenue Frères Lumière and the large market held up Ambroise-Courtois on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Metro D line serves this area through Monplaisir Lumière station and is live to get to the city center. Signs streets Monplaisir are black with small white stripes, reminiscent of a movie clap.
Parking spaces are available near the building.
