This gem of a cabin was just constructed and the owners are completing the final touches. It will be available to rent effective Memorial Weekend, 2017. This privately owned cabin sits on 13 beautiful acres in Wilderness State Park near Mackinaw City and is directly across the road from Lake Michigan. It sits on a hill and has wonderful views of the Big Stone Bay. There is a large deck overlooking the Bay and offers ample opportunity to view the variety of wildlife here. Watch the eagles, osprey, loons, deer, fox, coyote, bobcat and maybe you'll be lucky enough to spot a bear. The park offers miles of hiking, biking, snowshoeing and cross country ski trails. The bay is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, sailing, fishing or just enjoying a leisurely swim. Wilderness is just completing a "day park" a short walk away that has a wonderful sandy beach, bathroom facilities and lots of sunshine! The water is crystal clear and the Lake has a nice, sandy bottom that is shallow for quite a distance. It makes for great beach time with the kids.

The cabin comes complete with linens, bedding, dishes, pots and pans, silverware and cooking utensils. There is a toaster, coffee pot, electric oven/stove, griddle, microwave and full size refrigerator. There are 2 large ceiling fans for warm days but there is generally a nice breeze. There is also a picnic table for outdoor dining.

The cabin has 1 bedroom with twin beds, a futon that sleeps an additional 2, beautiful hardwood floors, dining table/chairs, an extra wide shower in the bathroom and a nicely equipped kitchen and lots of windows to let in the light. The cabin is bright and cheery with views of the surrounding area from every room.

We encourage you to bring your boat, kayaks, canoes, bikes or other outdoor "toys" for your pleasure. The Wilderness Park boat launch is across the road for putting in and plenty of parking on the property for your boat/trailer. If you will be using the boat launch, you will need to purchase a park pass at the Rangers Station which will give you access to the park and it's services.

There is a great general store a short walk away that makes donuts and coffee daily but the closest Grocery Store, gas station, and shopping is in Mackinaw City, about 20 minutes away.

If you are interested in visiting some of the local areas, the cabin is a short drive (within 30 minutes) to Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, Carp Lake, Alanson, Petoskey, Good Hart, Cross Village, Harbor Springs and Indian River. Everything from fine dining to roadside cafe's, lots of antiquing, breweries, wineries, golf, sailing - the list goes on and on! Once you visit, you'll be hooked. This is a place you'll want to come back to year after year. We look forward to hosting you!

This cabin ROCKS! My wife and I booked a couple of nights here as our base for Fall color touring, and man, were we so sad to leave! The cabin is conveniently located just a short drive west of the bridge for easy access to the U.P., and equally as convenient to the awesome restaurants and shops in Harbor Springs and Petoskey (a little bit longer of a drive if you go down the coast through the famous Tunnel of Trees, but the scenery is so worth the extra time!). Amenities were generous at the cabin as there were clean sheets, clean towels, plenty of bed space, and a nice, full-sized kitchen with pots, pans, dishes, and everything else we needed to make our own meals while we stayed. Located just across the road from the park’s boat launch and a small beach area, we were able to get down to the Lake very easily with a short walk. The cabin is super private, but does have a wonderful view of the water and even the bridge from the deck! All in all a wonderful place to stay for a quiet weekend of peace and relaxation! We will be back!

Beautiful view! Nice place to chill out and slow down. Wilderness state park has plenty to offer hiking, biking and boating. Very clean, offering BBQ on the deck for an evening dinner while over looking the Mackinaw Bridge. Great for couples.

Pintals Wilderness Cabin and Wilderness State Park are the quietest places I can remember being. On the beach where Piping Plovers are protected all I could hear was the waves. We were disappointed that no fires are allowed at the cabin -- didn't find that in the "details" until we read them on the day before leaving home. The campsites across the road have fire pits, but because we were there on Labor Day weekend, none were available. Diane is not the owner, but she was good about returning phone calls, calling the owner and getting back to us when we had questions. There is only one chair on the deck, so be prepared to negotiate over it! The view is amazing and we were able to see the bridge both day and night. The cabin is very private, clean and new. Heat & hot water plentiful. Kitchen has good sharp knives, but no wine glasses.
Ann, I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to the Wilderness Cabin and thanks for your feedback. There are actually 2 additional lawn chairs in the closet. I'm sorry you didn't find them. We will be adding wine glasses this week, thanks for that idea! I know it might be a disappointment not to be able to have a campfire but because there are often extreme high winds on the hill, Joe and Jen are not comfortable having open fires. It would be very easy for the field to catch fire. The state park has pits that are not located near a field and are somewhat protected from the winds. In addition the state park monitors the campfires with their patrols. The owner grew up in the park and has had seen the damage of uncontrolled fires. They are not wiling to take that risk.

The cabin is perfect. Secluded with a view of Lake Michigan and the bridge, but close to other attractions and beaches. The cabin was very clean.

Great experience, we loved the cabin and will be back!

Make sure to get donuts at the local General Store! The cabin is in a great place to see the bridge, the water and the wildlife !

Chuck and I have been together for 30 years and have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. We enjoy the outdoors, yoga and photography and we LOVE Michigan! When we met, one of the many things we had in common was that we grew up vacationing in Northern Michigan. As a result of those wonderful summers, we came to love the outdoors. It was such a part of us that we knew some day we'd have our own place here. Our son and his wife were married on Mackinac Island a few years ago and that was when we decided to purchase a cabin. We wanted to provide a special place for our children to bring their children in the years to come and we found the perfect spot. We began to rent it out a few years ago and since then, we started our own business (Mackinaw Getaways) and we now help over 20 families rent their own vacation homes. We love the outdoors and the possibilities are endless here. Swim, fish, kayak, canoe, sail, hike, bike, scuba dive, hunt, bird watch - you name it! It's all available there.
