Our penthouse has a faboulos view over the city, it is very close to the Malecon and other tourist atractions of Havana.
You will find all the necesary things in our apartement that you will have a good stay.
The building is not the easiest to find as there is no building number to be seen. We needed to ask around to find the correct building the first time. This wasn't Yeilin's fault; I'd say it's more AirBNB's fault for not allowing picture attachments. A red dot on a map of the block would have helped a lot. The outside of the building doesn't have the best curb appeal if you have not been to Cuba before. If you have, then you'll notice it is in good shape fine for the area; this isn't Vedado or Miramar. We met another group staying on another floor and they were very disappointed with the building, but they were comparing it to a duplex in Vedado and they did not speak Spanish - That's not a fair comparison at all. Regardless of external appearance, Yeilin's place is very nicely appointed with a contemporary design. Fresh white paint, attractive floor tiles, good furniture, comfortable beds, nice artwork. Water pressure is good and plenty of hot water, rainfall shower heads and detachable water wands in the showers. The shower in the master bedroom also has an awesome view; I've not seen anything like it before. It goes through 2 sheets of glass so it's to view out only, not in. As other reviewers have pointed out, you do not have access to the kitchen. That part of the apartment is for Marina, Yeilin's mother, whom is a very nice & pleasant woman. If you don't seek her out, you'll never know she's even around. I remember reading a negative review about privacy; and that's just not true. For all intent and purpose, it is a private apartment with the owner living next door. Marina's English is not the best, but you have to remember Cuba did not start teaching English in schools until the 80s-90s; expecting good English from the previous generation should not be expected. You're in Cuba, learn at least some Spanish - You'll need it everywhere else, anyway. Breakfast is available, and we did partake 3 out of 5 days of our stay. We ended up asking Carlos to make LESS food for us, as it was more than the 3 of us could possibly eat. Plenty of coffee, fresh fruit juice, eggs, cold meats and cheese, and sliced mangos & melon - a really good meal & value. If you've been to Cuba before, you'll understand, as a restaurant that sells breakfast before 11am is not easy to find. One that sells breakfast for a reasonable price before 11am is even harder to find. The dining room table has service for 6, by the way. There are mini-fridges in each room and drinks are provided for a reasonable/comparable fee. Each room also has an attached private bathroom which are both updated & everything works great. There is AC electricity in both 110v & 220v in each room, including bathrooms. Both bedrooms also have through-wall air conditioning, which works wonderfully. We...
The home was beautiful in a perfect location to enjoy the city life of Havana. The view of the ocean and city from the rooftop was also amazing. I highly recommend taking advantage of the breakfast they offer. It was delicious with many authentic Cuban options for all to enjoy. We also enjoyed taking a walk down to Gente, the local bar/restaurant on the corner. The atmosphere was fun and the lobster was outstanding with friendly staff who made us welcome.
Overall, the place was okay. There is no air conditioning in the living room or elsewhere in the apt, only in the bedrooms. We did NOT have access to the kitchen because someone else was living in the guest quarters and would not allow us access to using those amenities. Also no mention was made about the fact that the mother lives in the house as well. So if you dont mind sharing the apt, then this is the right place for you. If you do, you may want to reconsider. Great views though.
