A recently refurbished double bedroom in a central maisonette, across the street from Trinity Bridge and down the road from Crowland Abbey, one of England’s oldest medieval landmarks. Crowland is a lovely, small town and a perfect short-term getaway when life’s getting too busy. Your host is a Cambridge historian, so if you like a quiet atmosphere for study and reflection, with the occasional in-depth conversation, then this is the place for you!
Besides its warm and eclectic atmosphere, the room is conveniently located in the centre of town. Everything is within a one-minute walking distance: the abbey, bus stop, grocers, farmer's market, pub, the butcher, and so on.
Guests will have access to their bedroom, the living room, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. For more information about the specifics of what may and may not be used/altered in those space, please see the House Rules.
This room is in my permanent residence and, since I work in the office below the flat, I shall be there quite often to socialise and/or assist you during your stay. If bribed with an evening pint, I'm not beyond giving tours of the local historical sites!
Please refer to the House Rules for more information.
Please bear in mind that your host (that’s me) is OCD and can therefore be a little particular about shared spaces, those spaces being the kitchen and bathroom. Nevertheless, I want your stay to be comfortable and convenient. So, I’ve drafted up some simple rules that will ensure your experience is blissful and likewise put my mind at ease.
(1) Kitchen. There shall be separate sections in the cupboard for guest dishes and cutlery. I shall be there to show you which sections those are, so don’t worry! As for cleaning up, the kitchen rule is quite simple: please clean only the dishes, cutlery, and space(s) you have used, after use, and return the items to their rightful places.
(2) Bathroom. A similar rule is in place for the bathroom. Basically, if you could keep it clean and tidy after use, it would be much appreciated. I keep the bathroom (and the kitchen) stocked with cleaning supplies, in case you need them. You can always trust an OCD person to always have such items floating around!
More or less, it’s just a matter of keeping the shared spaces clean and orderly, e.g. if you remove a book from the shelf, please return it to its proper location. You won’t have to worry too much about general cleanliness, as the flat is cleaned regularly. I really do strive to ensure that none of this even enters your mind, so that you can relax and enjoy Crowland.
I'm a part-time Airbnb host, sales director, and freelance academic living in Crowland, just down the street from the ruins of a medieval Benedictine abbey. It's the perfect place for an afternoon stroll and some nibbles on the green, if that's your sort of thing. It's certainly mine!
As for me, well, I lived in Cambridge for around four years before moving up to Crowland in mid-2017. I wanted someplace quieter than Cambridge, but not too far away, since I frequent the university library. So, Crowland was more or less a perfect location, being less than hour away from my alma mater.
I love travelling, meeting new people, good food, and long conversations. In fact, if you care for some conversation about history, philosophy, or life in general, my double-bedroom on East Street might make a good trip. It has a nice book collection, it's stocked with exotic teas, and I'm there most of the time, minus the occasional excursion. :)
I'm also a part-time fencing coach, in case you're interested in getting a little exercise! Though, I suppose if you're coming to visit Crowland, it's probably meant to be relaxing... and relaxing it shall be! So, if you're interested in booking a visit to Crowland, please message me and/or check the listing provided. I'd be more than delighted to host you!
