Serene, majestic, and private location in southern Rocky Mountains on 40 secluded acres at 9,000 feet elevation.
This setting is for those who love nature, peace, quiet, and outdoor beauty along with a chance to truly connect with those you bring with you to share this experience.
Location has fire pit, shower, toilet, fully equipped outdoor kitchen, picnic table, sink, firewood, and ice. Just bring food, beverages, your personal items, family and friends. Meals available - additional fee.
Breathtaking views in a private location on 40 secluded acres. Here you can truly get away from it all. A lot of creature comforts, but no electricity, internet, TV, etc. Water, ice, and firewood are brought in daily.
Owners/hosts live nearby and are a short walk away if you need anything. There are no other tipis on the property, so your experience will be completely private. You'll hear the wind in the trees, birds in the summer, and elk bugling in the fall. The wonderful smell of pine, cedar, and spruce will refresh you as you relax around the fire and fall asleep at night.
This tipi was made by Nomadic Tipi Makers who created the tipis in the movie Dances w/ Wolves. Custom-painted, this tipi features nature scenes, along with a mountain motif around the base, and phases of the moon near the top.
The 20-ft oval interior sleeps four (1 Queen, 2 twins) on heavenly comfortable beds (storage underneath) with 5-inch thick memory-foam mattresses. Snuggly down comforters, wool blankets and soft sheets ensure your warmth and comfort at night, as you stargaze through the smoke-hole of your tipi. Additional blankets are stored in bench seating.
FIREPIT and EVENING SKIES:
Log seating surrounds the firepit; wood is provided for each night's stay. The skies are black, and there are so many stars that it's difficult to find familiar constellations. You'll see the Milky Way arching across the sky at night.
The Perseid meteor shower occurs in mid-August, reaching peak activity around August 11-13. What a show! Be patient, and you'll see the International Space Station and other satellites passing overhead on clear nights.
KITCHEN and DINING:
Redwood picnic table and benches, dish washing sink (and detergent), authentic enamelware plates, bowls, cups, and spoons. Flatware, glasses, cooking utensils, pots, pans, dish towels, napkins, salt, pepper, sugar, french press coffee pot, and a campfire popcorn popper (popcorn provided). Locked container is for food and trash. Large cooler provided. Hosts remove trash daily and also bring additional ice and firewood for the day. Just bring food and beverages. Hot breakfast and dinner available for an additional fee. Arrange with hosts after booking.
SHOWER and TOILET:
Shower outdoors in a private enclosure that is open to sky, trees, and mountains. Individual solar shower is provided for each guest. Plush towels, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are provided as well.
Toilet is in unique multi-wood outdoor enclosure. Toilet paper, air freshener, hand-sanitizer, hand towels and reading material appropriate to the setting are provided. :-)
Hike the property and enjoy the nature and wildlife. Native American- themed reading materials for children of all ages from 5 to 95. Content is both educational and some is pure entertainment. Horseshoe pit and horseshoes (of course) provided.
40 acres for hiking and nature observation, plus exclusive use of tipi area.

Owner-hosts are within a short walk. We are available for guided nature walks, and will visit in late morning to collect trash and see if you need anything.
The safety of our guests and neighbors on the ranch, as well as a pleasant and injury-free stay for our guests, is our primary goal. Accordingly, violation of either of the two items below will result in forfeiture of remaining days rental and security deposit.
1. FIREARMS, FIRE and SMOKING:
- Firearms, fireworks, and fire accelerants are not permitted on the property at any time.
- Use of Fire-pit and smoking are not permitted on very windy, very dry days, or when state and/or county restrictions and bans prohibit their use.
A fire-pit and firewood are provided for your evening enjoyment. Smoking is permitted outside of the tipi (but not inside) provided that a 'water ashtray' (metal can filled with water) is used for all ashes and butts. All state and county fire restrictions and bans shall be strictly observed. Guests will be notified by Owner-hosts of days when smoking and fires are not permitted. Guests agree to follow hosts' instructions concerning these items.
We live in a remote, peaceful, quiet area where all residents value their privacy. This rental is for our 40 acres only. All other roads and properties in the ranch are private. No drones are permitted. To ensure that our neighbors' properties and privacy are respected a $200 fine will be assessed if any violation of trespassing or drone usage is observed or reported.
RESPECTING THE ENVIRONMENT:
Although the environment looks rugged (and stunningly beautiful) it is actually very fragile; for this reason, we do not allow ATVs, RVs, or OTHER OFF-ROAD VEHICLES on the property.
As in our national parks, please do not remove any plants, trees, or rocks or cut and/or collect firewood. Respect the wildlife and for your safety do not approach any wild animals but rather observe and photograph them from a distance. This is their home.
MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY and PROPERTY USE:
There is a 4-person maximum occupancy. The property is not suitable for children under 5. Only registered guests, and no other visitors, are allowed on the property. No parties or events may be held on the property.
Guests will sign an agreement that they will abide by the house rules, and assume full responsibility for their actions, for any damages caused to this property or adjoining properties.
Although hosts are nearby this is a wilderness area. Guests agree to assume full responsibility for any damages to this property or neighboring properties caused by guests. Guests agree to hold host-owners blameless and assume full responsibility for any personal injuries and/or damage to their own property during their stay.
Use of recreational drugs, including marijuana, is prohibited.
Cleaning Fee: No cleaning fee is charged if the property is left free of any litter or debris. Please try to keep the site pristine. If there is litter we will deduct an appropriate amount from your security deposit.
