Cosy country cottage in idyllic rural setting. Less than 30 minutes drive from Galway & 1.5 miles from the shore of scenic Lough Corrib. The cottage was our home until last year and we really enjoyed the peaceful tranquil location, large garden and charm of living in this magical old cottage. We spent the last year modernising and updating the cottage so it is comfortable without losing the charm of a traditional building. Oil heating and a stove mean it is always cosy & there is WiFi.
The cottage space comprises a unique double height living space with a traditional fireplace inset with a modern stove. Off this there are the bathroom with bath and shower; kitchen with all modern appliances and the single bedroom. Upstairs is the double bedroom. Outside there is almost an acre of completely private gardens. The local area is rural with farmyards and country roads leading to the Lough Corrib lake shore.
Guests can access all of the property except for one attic room.
I live and work not too far away so will be on hand to check guests in and otherwise if needed. I will occasionally be dropping by to tend to the garden and will let guests know in advance.
There are two quiet cats which have lived here for 12 years. They spend most of their time outdoors and come inside at night to sleep to and eat. They can be shy with strangers but sometimes will interact.
No smoking inside the house.
I live with my partner, son and two daughters in Galway city. I worked as an archaeologist until around 2009. I now work in Tuam for a multi-media company managing music. I lived happily in the Co. Galway countryside for 13 years. However with three small children we decided to bring them up in the city. We kept our cottage so we can enjoy the best of both worlds. I love to be outdoors, going for a walk or gardening or to be at home, doing DIY, reading the weekend papers, cooking a nice meal and relaxing with friends and family. I love going out for dinner, to the theatre, gigs and the cinema. 'Your life is the days you live'. Make the most of every day regardless of what is going on and don't worry too much about the future!
