This Chalkidiki house has an atmosphere of homeliness and individual charm. It has been sensibly renovated to preserve it's traditional character and will appeal to all who love the simplicity and beauty in detail of old Greek village houses. Situated on the top of a hill in the old part of Sikia, Sithonia in a quiet neighborhood the big balcony gives a small glimpse to the sea (6 km away!) with the most beautiful beaches of the peninsula.
The house is equipped with old/antique furniture. It provides 2 bedrooms (double bed/single bed), a richly equipped living-room/kitchen with a bed sofa, and a small bathroom with bath tub, wash-basin, small inbuilt-cupboard and toilet.
The place is on the first floor of a 2 storey-house with a private entrance and door to the spacious balcony.
My mother will be doing the check-in, guiding and hosting, - if you like, need and want it!
- The house is in a quiet neighborhood. Guests are welcome to smoke on the balcony. Families with children over the age of 10 are very welcome, as long as they respect private property of the owners, especially books and house-decoration.
Yiayia Thomai, the House and me;
When my family moved to Greece in 1986, I was two and a half years old and very curious. After a few month I was allowed to run about in the neighbourhood. There were no cars, no motorbikes or other dangerous vehicles in the streets back then. Only donkeys, dogs, cats and chicken and very attentive old ladies.
Yiayia Thomai had at that time been living in her house for nearly 90 years. I still remember her sitting on her doorsteps on fine days, gathering us children of the neighbourhood together, feeding us with sweets and caramels and telling us fascinating stories of old times.
When she finally died in 1988, her family offered her house to my family with the exclusive argument: ,This house has allways had a good spirit', - which we find true to this day!
