Restoring our 1935 bungalow in Austin, Texas has been a labor of love. It was featured in the 2014 Hyde Park Historic Homes Tour and is decorated with mementos from a life spent half at home and half on the road. From the creak of the screen door opening to the feel of the old oak floors on our bare feet to the peaceful morning coffee on the back patio, every time we return from an extended trip abroad, we are reminded of why this will always be home. We love our home. We hope you will too.
The master bedroom is equipped with a Sleep Number queen-sized bed and has its own bathroom. There is also a Bose stereo, alarm clock, lamps, night stands, a dresser and a full-length mirror. There is ample space for hanging clothes in the closet, as well as several shelves for folded items. Additionally, the master bath has tons of extra storage space on empty shelves behind the door.
The "guest bedroom" is equally lovely...well, almost. Minus having its own bathroom (available down the hall), this cozy room also has a Sleep Number queen-sized bed, Bose stereo, alarm clock and bedside amenities. There is also a desk in the this room, so it can double as an office if the second bed is not needed.
The kitchen is equipped with Cutco knives, All-Clad pans, a Kitchen-Aid mixer and a Cuisinart food processor, a Bosch gas stove and oven, and a microwave. And, yes, there's a blender, a coffee grinder, coffee maker and coffee. Not only this, but an ice cream maker, deep fryer, and pasta roller just in case you want to get adventurous. There's also a wide array of spices to choose from in the pantry.
Each bathroom should have nearly everything you need: Towels, soaps, essentials, hair dryer, even make-up wipes. In the guest bathroom, you have a large shower. If you prefer a bath, go for the original claw-foot tub in the master bath.
Last, but not at all least, we love the backyard as much as the rest of the house. Shaded by a canopy of tall pecan trees, we have an outdoor seating area and fire pit, a large smoker and BBQ area, and our personal favorite - the screened-in patio with ceiling fans.
Guests have access to the entire house, laundry room, parking area...you name it. Our home is your home.
As we will be out of town during your stay, our personal availability will be limited to email, phone or text, but our local property manager will be on-call for any emergencies. Additionally, in the living room, you will find a list of area restaurant and bar recommendations, as well as sites to see.
- There are no specific rules other than to please leave our home as you found it, respect the neighbors and have a great time.
