‟ Fascinating walks in mountains sculptured by wind and rain and challenging rock climbs.
Start in San Pantaleo 15 minutes by car from Cannigione. A vast choice of breathtaking beaches not forgetting La Sciumara, Barca Bruciata (manenna), La Piscina, Capriccioli, Long Beach (Liscia Ruja), Grande Pevero or the spectacular rocks and tiny coves at Punta Sardegna.
Round off the day on the beach in Cannigione minutes by foot and so relaxing to lie on the beach or dive off the jetty in the evening, capturing the warmth of the last rays of the setting sun. On the 500 meter amble home you can pop in to the supermarket to buy something tasty for the evening. You can also buy loose wine from the Vini Olio; the red wine Monica is my favourite
Meditation: take theLuogosanto road out of Arzechena. Half way
to Luogosanto look out for a small picnic spot
on the right and from there 400 steps lead
up through the rocks to a tiny church, Chiesa (church
di San Leonardo.
Nuraghe: The is the main type of ancient megalithic edifice found in
Sardinia, developed during the Nuragic Age. Today it is the symbol
of Sardinian and its distinctive culture. ”
I am half English half Scottish and my wife, Francesca, Italian. Many years ago I fell in love with Italy and we moved to Rome. We cannot conceive life without the sea, mountains and a country steeped in history. Many years ago, through my sister in law, Irene, we discovered the amazing coast line of the Costa Smeralda and Gallura in the North East corner of Sardinia. It is in Cannigione where our family has a small studio flat which we love to share with friends and guests from AirBnb
Our main activities in Sardinia are walking, climbing and Windsurfing, browsing the local markets, discovering local recipes and foraging for local wines and cheeses.
We chose AirBnb for the simple reason that both as guests and hosts we meet so many people we really like from all walks of life; the one thing most of them have is an insatiable desire for new discovery and to see and do as much as they can.
My life motto is horribly simple and that is to be able to chat with strangers in a lift with warmth and friendliness as Romans do.
By the way, the Sardinians love children so, on holiday, you will find your kids an asset and not an encumbrance
