Waterside fishing shanty on the shores of Golfito walking distance to everything you need.
Please Note: All bookings are for one person and one bed. We have dorm beds only and no beds for couples. There seems to be a glitch on Air bnb about dorms and sometimes it allows people to book as a couple for one dorm bed. If there is a question please write me as cancellations cause a penalty on our end. .
We are a no frills, fishing shanty- now turned vocational school. We use your donation to help our programs to the local community, to the deaf, to the planet. We have hot showers, a wholesome breakfast and patio on the water, We are a short walk or boat ride to some serious nature. Super cheap way to enjoy Costa rica and yet right downtown...near the Marina and Bars. A lot more fun for a lot less money or hassel.
(URL HIDDEN) is a school that uses Social Tourism to fund projects and education. Our Golfito location is a hub to our premeir projects; Apprenticing Deaf Costa Ricans to become Deaf Tour guides. We also teach English, and sponsor Ecology missions in the Southern Zone. This location is a Fishing Shanty that we have converted into a factory and dorm on the water with kitchen. We have no AC (Fans only). Our dock is our gateway to our other ecology and community forming projects (visit our website) in the tropical outback of Costa rica, via boat to some of the most bio diverse places on the planet. Please do not expect a hotel envrionment, we can recommend many if that is what you want. We do not want bad reviews from those who expected a resort, or even a house. To us, our location is romantic, minimalist and unique but its not for everyone. Its real though, and the sunset, wow! Ask us questions before you book, even about other places and options.
Guests have free access until curfew then the doors are locked. But we can arrange keys or specical circumstances, no biggie.
We know a lot of cool, free things to do. We know of most of the connections you need to make to other places. Golfito is an unknown to most folks. Most that come here are on their way to other places but this sleepy town is the last of the unknown places. you can get off the Gringo trail here and suck in the culture, the heat, the rain, the local scene. Good memories to make here. Its very real here, no tourist scene here.
This town is an old Banana town, bananas pulled out after 50 years of culture, back in the 80's . It lies ready to be pounced upon by a world of cruize ships and tourism. But until them its Tico all the way with an expat mix. Fishing boats coming and going, old french buildings, marina, bars with cold beer and sunsets, friendly people, beaches and jungle.
All roads (and water) lead to within a short walk to our location. We are just south of the marina and from the bus stop. From here you can connect to just about anywhere in Costa Rica and to San Jose direct.
We have one toilet and two showers (one outside, both cold), be patient.
Also: there seems to be a sort of gitch in the Air bnb system. I list individual beds at indivual rates. I have no double beds, or couples beds, or private rooms.
Access to patio, living areas, kitchen and lockable storage.
- Smoke on patio, clean up after yourselves, quiet time 9pm, 11 pm lights out
