You will love this place, and Dorina is an amazing host! The pictures don't do this amazing house justice! First about Quartu Sant'Elena. It is a quite resort village in Sardegna: about 40-minute drive south of Cagliari and 30-minute drive north of Villasimius. There are a number of houses on the hills leading to the beach, and Dorina's house perhaps has the best view and access to the beach. The house is super modern with all the amenities. Everything is newly renovated and the yard is amazingly green with unbelievable view of the sea. Our kids enjoyed playing in the yard in the evenings, and Dorina let them feed her pet turtle. :) In the evenings, you will enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets over the Mediterranean Sea. You will occupy a one-bedroom unit in the lower level of the expansive villa. It has a living room with a sofa bed that can sleep two people, and a bedroom with a queen size bed. There are plenty of shelves for storing suitcases, etc. There is a very clean bathroom in the unit, and a small fridge for your drinks etc. There is a flat screen TV on the wall, but who watches TV when you have that amazing view of the sea outside? The kitchen on the upper level is very large, and it's shared, which was perfectly fine with us. Dorina leaves for work early in the morning and comes back in the evening. She runs a local bar, which is next to the only small grocery store in the village (both 5 minute walk from the house). So she's always nearby should you need anything. One morning, for example, the stove ran out of propane gas, and we texted Dorina. Within 5 minutes, someone came and replaced the gas tank. You will enjoy the view of the sea and the sound of the sea. Make sure you get Dorina's number and communicate in advance because mobile connection is very weak in the village. Internet is not readily available, but it was an opportunity for us to "unplug" from social media and to enjoy the sea. Dorina speaks Italian, but with the help of online dictionaries we communicated pretty well. She's an amazingly open person who goes over and beyond to make your stay comfortable. TIP 1: Do your grocery shopping in Cagliari before arriving. There is only one small convenience store in the village with limited stock. TIP 2: Prior to your arrival, you will receive the exact address. When you reach the final street, ignore the navigation directions and go all the way down to the end of the street, where you will find the beach public parking lot. Call Dorina from there. She will take you up the stairs to the house. TIP 3: Park at the beach parking lot. It's free. It can be full during the day, but lots of space early in the morning and late in the evening.
