Rob made us feel right at home the minute we got there. We had a lovely time, watching the birds, enjoying the sunset and swapping stories with Rob. This house is eco-friendly, quaint and rustic. A true hidden gem! Exciting to see they also have a camp site up. Keep up the great work! You can read our full review here: (URL HIDDEN)
Robin is a great host. He kindly met us in Mtito Andei and showed us the market, pointed out the internet cafe, etc. We were driving a Subaru Outback which got us over the roughest parts of the road to Nyka Farm which isn't that far away. We were welcomed at the house by Bahati and Maurice who helped us unload the car and settle us in. Robin showed us through the house and pointed out how the lights work, etc. We came to Nyka to chill out and that's exactly what we were able to do. You are on the edge of the Tsavo East Game Park and there was evidence of Elephant and buffalo trails on our walks. At night we heard Hyena. The birdlife is abundant and a joy to have as ones neighbours. On our second day we went for a guided walk with Robin and Maurice, when we saw the farm and heard all about the trials of farming in a semi-arid environment. Robin is now starting a small fish farm and also planting trees. The farm is covered in indigenous trees and shrubs, so lots to find out about. All the facilities worked very well for us. We enjoy the simple living and a rustic lifestyle which Robin offers, and for which we were grateful. A great place to stay half way between Nairobi and the coast, and with the new train service about to start, take a break in your journey and enjoy what Robin has to offer. We left constructive comments with Robin which he was pleased take onboard. The highlights for us was the quiet, the birdlife, the walks, sitting on the roof for a sundowner, meeting Robin, Maurice and Bahati. The decor took a bit of getting used to as the house felt a bit cluttered and could have done with some painting here and there, but that is more a point of taste. Hopefully Robin will place more details about the type of vehicle you will need, directions, and a better description of the house and facilities with good photos. Thank you Robin!
