If you're looking for a beautiful place to stay in the heart of Hamilton Heights, you've found it here. Located on a residential block 5 minutes from Broadway, the 1 subway line, bus stops, a Chase Bank, Laundry Lounge, great restaurants, grocery, pharmacy, cute coffee shop, and much more, this locale gives you Everything you need at your fingertips.
Take a stroll a block north for breakfast at Café One, espresso at Filtered, or hop on the 1 train downtown to reach Lincoln Center, Columbus Circle, or Times Square in 25 minutes or less. The apartment sits right next to City College, one of Manhattan’s universities, and is close to Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater.
I am experimenting with a new system of ONLY booking guests for 5-7 days at a time, checking in on Mondays, checking out on the weekend, or something similar. I appreciate your understanding of this new system, and hope that it works for you!
As your host, I also live in this beautiful apartment along with my sweet roommate Amelia, who usually stays in her room, so you will likely not see her at all, or only in passing. There is a comfy full bed with drawers, desk, chair, window, and AC in the private room for you. Any questions please feel free to ask!
If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, please keep in mind that while the apartment is new, this building is old; the walls are thin and sound still carries.
Towels, bedding, pillows, and select personal care items are provided. I also provide a Welcome Packet and maps/menus to help guide you during your stay.
Please see the Security Deposit section on the AirBnb site should you have any questions about it.
Street parking is available very close to the apartment, although it can be tricky to find sometimes. You might have to park further away, but it shouldn't be a huge problem.
The apartment is ideal for easy-going individuals seeking what it's truly like to live in Manhattan, who are gung-ho about sight-seeing, exploring and adventure, or for a couple looking to spend some exciting days out on the town.
***Suitable for those who want to spend days out, and nights in, NOT for those who want to sleep in during the day, since I will be around and singing loud opera in the mornings ***
I love meeting new people, and I enjoy helping others visiting a new or familiar city. It would be a pleasure to host you!
You will have access to your private room, and also the common area, kitchen and bathroom, which Amelia and I share with you (mostly me). I ask for a window of time between 10 am – 2 pm Monday-Saturday where guests are outside of the apartment during their stay. I use the common space of the apartment during that time. If you have specific needs regarding your stay please do let me know ahead of time and I will do my best to accommodate.
I aim to achieve and maintain Super Host status and to receive a 5-Star rating from every guest that books with me. With this goal in mind, I ask that you read the entirety of this apartment profile before reserving your booking, so that most of your questions are answered before contacting me.
Interaction with guests
I will always be present during your stay. If I am not for some reason, you will be notified with much advance notice.
The best way to get up/downtown is the 1 subway line, at 137th and Broadway, a few blocks south of the apartment. There is also the A/B/D at 145th St and St. Nicholas which is about a 10-15 minute walk from the apt. There are also a few bus routes nearby.
Is a 3-bedroom apartment, with the most private bedroom housing AirBnb guests. I live in another bedroom. The apartment has been recently -and beautifully- renovated with new countertop and stainless steel appliances, and it is sparkly new in comparison to most other Harlem apartments. Access is via a newly renovated elevator up to the 5th floor, or via stairs. As you enter the apartment, to your left is the entrance to the common area/open kitchen, and most importantly, your private room to the far left. In the common area you will see an elegant futon sofabed, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, N’Espresso machine which you are welcome to use (I will show you how to care for it, if you wish to use; it is my baby), kitchen countertop, stovetop/oven, and dining area. Looking to your right you will see the new bathroom to the rear. I live in the room closest to the front door. Amelia lives in the room near the common area.
At present, there is an A/C unit in the common area, and an A/C unit in the private room. I ask for your Wise Judgment and Courtesy in using the A/C Sparingly so electric costs remain reasonable!!
The bathroom is shared with a maximum of 4 people when all rooms are occupied.
You will be able to lock your private room from the inside, and it has new black flooring. It also has a window. The bed is full size IKEA type with a new mattress.
The apartment has Wifi network access, is a Non-Smoking and drug-free environment, and is rather tranquil for NYC.
There will be a maximum of 4 people in the apartment at any given time (this would be for a group of 2 guests plus Amelia and me). In general, I book 1-2 guests per stay.
I would be delighted to answer questions about the city and this neighborhood.
I want you to have the most amazing experience staying here! I am comfortable accommodating to your style, I can be very out-going and share lots, or I can be reserved and let you do your thing. Please let me know what you prefer.
Please share any concerns you have before booking if they happen to not be described in this profile.
This neighborhood is very ethnically diverse with my building having a very kind, predominantly Hispanic community. I recommend the use of the Uber taxi app in order to get a cab in this area. You can also find yellow and green cabs, as well.
LATE CHECK OUT FEE:
There is a late check out fee – a full day rate if the check out happens between 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. Check out after 1:00 pm is double the daily rate or at the host’s discretion.
I appreciate quiet between 10 p.m. and 9 a.m. including Saturdays and Sundays!
Eating is limited to dining area only (no food in the bedroom or other areas).
Suitcases live in the private room with you.
You are welcome to purchase your own food and store it in the fridge. Please bring your desired alcohol, and if you would like to use the N’espresso machine please let me know before your arrival – I can likely purchase capsules for you with enough notice, and I will ask for reimbursement.
I will do whatever I can to accommodate any reasonable guest requests. Any questions - please feel free to ask!
Please enjoy your stay. I look forward to hosting you!
Please, read the full listing to understand house rules. Please do not ask to check in early, as I 99% of the time won't be able to accommodate, unless you have already described a situation to me. If you need to store your luggage somewhere I can happily provide a location to do so.
Please abide by check in and check out times. Please, NO food in the bedroom. Thanks in advance for your cooperation!
- Considerate, kind guests, please!
- Check-in is after 4 PM, check out before 12 noon.
- Take shoes off upon entering.
- ALWAYS LOCK THE DOOR when leaving the apartment and at night. While this is a very safe neighborhood, it’s a good policy for Manhattan.
- Turn off the lights when you leave.
- Please, no outside guests during your stay. An extra $80 fee will apply if outside guests are found in the apartment!
- While I encourage the use of kitchen and dining area for guests, I discourage activities involving a lot of noise (no parties).
- Please respect the other community members and common areas of the property.
- Please clean up after yourself in the kitchen, i.e. dishes, cookware, silverware, fridge, counters, cabinets.
- This apartment is a non-smoking and drug-free environment.
- Please do not eat my food or drink my alcohol, but you are welcome to use the spices and oils.
- Quiet hours in the building are from 10 PM - 9 AM.
- Please use the A/C sparingly to minimize electricity costs!!
Hi! I'm Nicole, a professional opera singer, voice teacher, and certified coach who loves the arts, great food, and great conversation. I'm a NYC native, and I love meeting people from all around the world.
I'm back in the Big Apple after having completed an Artist Diploma in baroque opera/chamber music in Seattle, working with some of the world's best in early music. I'm singing a lot of opera these days, and having a ball! I received my Bachelor of Music in performance through Ithaca College in upstate New York, and I've traveled to Germany and Italy to pursue my singing. Music is my life, and I'm very passionate about what I do.
My passion for life extends into the way I host: before you arrive and during your stay, I am here for you every step of the way. I am truly invested in your experience and I hope to make it the best it can possibly be. I look forward to getting to know you!
