Our Naramata Bench home is very private and quiet, and you'll enjoy the ground floor of our home all to yourself (we live upstairs). The private entrance, quiet comfortable guest room, private washroom, sun room (with a few morning staples, including coffee, tea, our own orchard pressed apple juice) and a seating area outside, perfect for an evening glass of wine. You'll also have a TV room and if it's chilly, we'll build a cozy wood fire for you.
Our home is located on a working 5 acre apple orchard - depending on the season, you might be able to witness the stunning apple blossoms in bloom, the start of the apples growing, and as summer comes to an end, the giant juicy apples ready to be picked.
The suite has a private entrance, a lovely comfortable seating area outside, and plenty of places in the orchard to walk and enjoy the quiet and stunning views of the Naramata Bench. After a long day wine touring, this is a perfect retreat to come back to, to relax and enjoy a glass of your locally produced wine!
Sun Room: The suite enters into the sun room. While we don't provide a full kitchen, but we do provide a few staples and amenities for you to prepare snacks and have a bite to eat before heading out for your day. Here you'll find a mini-fridge, microwave, a Keurig machine (with pods for convenience, and we also provide local coffee along with a grinder, which can be used in the reusable pods), a kettle with selection of tea, variety of wine glasses and dishes, toaster, and cheese boards/knives. We will stock the kitchenette for when you arrive with yogurt, a bowl of seasonal fruit, a loaf of bread with jam/peanut butter, a box of our own orchard pressed apple juice, tea/coffee (including local Summerland-roasted Backyard Beans coffee), a jar of housemade granola, and a carton of milk - enough to tide you over in the mornings.
Guest room: The guest room has a very comfortable queen sized bed, a dresser and closet for you to unpack in if you wish, and an electric fireplace.
TV Room: Beside your room is a tv room (with satellite TV) - feel free to make yourself comfortable. If the weather is chilly, our entire home is primarily heated by the wood stove located in the TV room, so tending to the fire is the only time we will come down to this floor when we have guests.
Outside: the guest suite has its own seating area for your exclusive use. We hope you'll make yourself comfortable and enjoy a glass of wine and the sunset from this area!
The guest floor is located on ground level, and opens up to our lush lawn area.
You'll have access to the full downstairs suite, and are welcome to walk through the orchard if you wish.
We will be around the property, but likely might be working in the orchard (and Amanda has an onsite pastry kitchen, The White Apron, so she will likely be in the kitchen working on wedding cakes). You are welcome to call us (cell numbers will be provided) or just come knock!
We are quite busy during the day, but if you're outside during the evening we would love to join you for a glass of wine and a chat outside if you'd like (once our kids are in bed).
We have two young children (aged 1 and 3) - however, our family's living space is two floors above the guest suite, so you shouldn't hear them at all at night or in the early morning. We are early risers but will try our best to keep everyone quiet in the mornings! We do have a dog (a friendly border collie named Piper).
- No pets please, as we have a dog.
- The floor of the guest room/breakfast room is carpeted, so no shoes inside the home please. Slippers are provided.
- Pack and play for child aged 2 or under is provided. Only the one queen sized bed is available, so only 2 guests (plus one baby who can sleep in the pack and play) is allowed regardless of age. Only one child, please, due to space limitations in the guest room.
We have a 5 acre apple orchard on the gorgeous Naramata Bench, surrounded by wineries and fruit orchards. Along with our young kids (aged 1 and 3) and our border collie, Piper, we spend a lot of time outside enjoying the best of the Okanagan sunshine, whether it is working in the orchard, growing some delicious organic veggies in the garden, or simply having a beach day. Bernard is a financial consultant by day, apple farmer at home, and Amanda is a pastry chef (with an onsite commercial pastry business, The White Apron, primarily catering wedding cakes). We both come from a restaurant/hospitality background, and we are very excited to share our home with you for our first season!
