Very comfortable and luxurious apartment with 5 bedrooms over 180 sqm. All quality furniture, furnishings, art and crockery. We offer a holiday for your senses, what you see, taste, touch, hear and feel, everything is genuine, as far as possible.
Surrounded by century-old olive groves, it is conveniently located for cycling, beach-hopping and visiting a wealth of cultural heritage towns.
Diddy's Country boasts a beautiful salt-water 11 meters infinity pool and 3 meters toddler pool.
Our house is an independent country villa (there is a first floor apartment, Piccinnu, which we rent out as well and can be rented together with Abbasciu), set in 4 acres of stunning olive groves and gardens. We call it 'holidays for the senses', all you can see is country side, century old olive trees, you can taste the on-site country produce such as tomatoes, figs, oranges, lemons, fruits and other vegetables (seasonal) as and when they ripen and last but not least you will get to use our own "Golden Nectar" extra virgin olive oil. You can also taste and buy the most amazing local pasta, mozzarellas and other local specialties off-site. We have thrived to furnish the house with wherever possible natural, artisan and local items, the bedsheets, towels and curtains come from a local fabrics producer (to name just a few). You are one km from San Vito dei Normanni in the midst of centuries-old olive groves and can hear the country side sounds such as dogs barking, tracktors working the land (on occasion), birds, crickets, donkeys, etc...
The house is formed of 3 original rooms built at the turn of the century (19/20th) with their star-shaped ceilings and has been enlarged twice to become the villa it is today. Over 180 sqm, there are five good size bedrooms, 2 master, 2 children/adult, 1 studio with sofa-bed, an open plan living/dining room with vintage furniture, a huge modern kitchen, 2 big bathrooms (both with bidet, 1 with bath as well), an utility room with washing machine and dryer, extra american fridge-freezer with ice dispenser and a huge outdoor area that includes the al fresco dining areas, the pizza oven, the gardens, the salt-water infinity swimming pool, playground, etc... (some of which are shared with Piccinnu unless you hire the whole villa).
There is a lot to discover for children too, we have a good size play area and various ride-on vehicles for all ages. Also check out our dinosaur!
Our guests can access all parts of the property, the swimming pool, the playground, the tennis, the gardens, the al fresco dining areas, the wood-fired pizza oven, you name it! We have some old bicycles on-site for your to use, please let us know in advance and we can prepare the bikes. There are various ride-on options for children of all ages as well. We have a ping-pong table and a table football, there is a football goal in one of the gardens. Our new 11x6 meters salt-water infinity pool with 3x3 toddler pool is ready, and can be used at your own risk. Please note that the pool is only 140cm deep (toddler pool 70cm) and that the natural stones of the solarium could become slippery when wet (No Diving, No Running). There is a good size playground with trampoline, slide, mud-kitchen, swings, gymnastics bars etc... The playground is used at your own risk.
Our guests can contact us any time for questions about the house or about things to do locally. In an emergency we also have our local managers Pamela and Antonio who live just minutes away in San Vito.
There is an upstairs apartment which we rent out as well, they have their own terrace and the breakfast/lunch area under the wisteria, however they will also have access to the gardens, the pool and the various other outdoor activities.
You could also rent both apartments and enjoy total privacy.
The swimming pool is a new salt-water infinity pool with toddler pool. The local dry-stone wall stones come from our own ground and the solarium is lead out with local stones.
- smoking only allowed outside (except in the pine area)
- No public parties allowed, only guests and a small number of their guests.
Together with my husband, we run a financial consulting firm and other private businesses such as the rental of our villa and the production of our own extra virgin olive oil (Golden Nectar), all under an ethical umbrella, with a view to achieve a positive impact on environment and/or society.
This is why we are passionate about promoting the sustainable side of your trip to Diddy's Country, being able to emerge yourself in nature, learn to love the olive grove (feel like an olive oil farmer/producer), taste the produce directly by using the extra-virgin olive oil produced directly from our trees, picking fruits and veggetables grown on the property, learn about the seasonal fruits and veg, learn about the farming. We are also passionate about using local produces ourselves, either food or, as used in our property, artisan produces we use in the house, such as bedsheets, towels, ceramic china, art work. We are also very careful to reclaim furniture from our ancestors wherever possible. We are proud to be the 5th generation to run Diddy's Country, and bringing it "simpathetically" into the 21st century.
Try some of the amazing restaurants in the nearby town of San Michele (Il Brigantino for example) or in Brindisi (Siamo Fritti and many more). Try the most amazing mozzarella producer from San Vito (Caseificio Lanzilotti) and the fresh and dried pasta producer (Al Matterello), who uses it's own flower. We love to roam the local artists' quaters (Grottaglie for ceramic art and plates).
We set-up Diddy's Country the way we would like it for us, we want you to feel at home, for example I like quality, hence we only use quality products whereever we can.
We have two young children and for now we only travel to see the grandparents, before the children we loved to travel further afar to the Caribbean or close to home and discover Italy, Switzerland and the UK. We would like to start to take our children on short trips to Europe, using Airbnb ourselves!
We love good food from around the world and I am a passionate cook, combining my knowledge of Swiss/French/German/Italian and English food, adding some elements of Asian food at times (we love Thai food) and letting our children discover all those amazing tastes. We love nature and animals and are hoping to have more time in the future to enjoy Diddy's Country even more.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you and to hopefully transfer some of our enthousiasm to you and your family.
