After 23 years in Paris, my place has a French flair, both formal and informal- a front living room, a casual den in back next to the guest room-a back entrance for more privacy. Near Swedish Covenant Hospital, and not far from both Northwestern and Loyola universities. About 15-20 minutes to get downtown by car, approx 40 min via public transport. Free parking. Uber pool costs typically around $4 to $8. A park a block away. a Walgreens, a Potbelly, a Chipotle... Many restaurants!
There is public transportation to the center of Chicago which is fairly easy as there is a bus at the end of my street, a block away that takes one to the Red Line which is direct. With that said, I now only take Uber pool or Lyft Line and depending on the time of the day, I can get downtown for as little as $3.75 or say about $5+. It usually takes about 20-25 minutes, sometimes less. Last night at 7 pm, on St. Patrick's Day, I was in center of city and wanted Uber to get home and incredibly, they asked for $17.00! I had never seen that kind of pricing, so I waited and tried again 40 minutes later and got home for $5.50! Worth the wait,I should say! I tell all of my friends about Uber pool and those that were taking public transportation now prefer door-to-door at unbeatable prices and time-saving.
For the most part, all spaces are accessible except my own bedroom, of course, and, at times, my living room when I am entertaining there. The neighborhood is safe and there is a great park a block away!
I am very happy to help my guests navigate the Chicagoland area. I am a realtor with Coldwell Banker and president of an architectural society in Chicago so I am sure that I can be of help. Both my "kids" live in city-very (URL HIDDEN) son is Executive Director of the Chicago International Movies and Film Festival and is always a great resource for happenings and places in city.
There is a Bank of America, a Byline Bank, a Walgreens two blocks away along with a Potbelly and Chipotle, as well as a very famous Chicago hot dog stand. There's a Target within walking distance. I am not far from Northwestern University or Loyola University or a beach atLake Michigan!
There is a minimum of a two-day stay. It would be helpful to me to know the genders of my guests so I could prepare for them accordingly.
Hi ! I've recently moved into this wonderful home after several years in the Chicago suburbs. I spent 24 years in Paris so my place has many touches of France, including some great French books! I love being active in the cultural fabric of the city and would be happy to help guests figure out the best things to do in the city. I love hosting people, and am so happy to have the perfect extra bedroom to accommodate travelers.
