Our place is 8 miles from Tacoma and 27 miles from Seattle. The lower level of our house has a private entrance with views to the lake. Swing in the hammock in the shade on the lake's edge on a warm day or cozy up to the pellet stove and the views from inside on a cool day. Our place is great for adventurers and for those looking for a some tranquility close to the city. The entire lower is only for guest use (no shared space with hosts). No kitchen in lower. Hosts live in upper.
While the lower portion of our home does not have a kitchen, we do provide a coffee maker and coffee/tea, drinking water, micro-fridge (can only fit a couple items), and a microwave. The space is a master suite with walk-in closets as well as a living/dining room and full bath. The entire lower portion is only for guest use and we will not be sharing any common spaces. There are doors on each of the sleeping spaces with the bathroom in between off a shared hallway.
Guests can access all of the daylight basement except the utility room which will be locked and the main floor of the house which will also be locked. Guests can use any of the outside areas including the dock, hammock, and fire pit/chiminea. Access to the private entrance requires a walk around the side of the house through grass (which is sometimes wet after it rains) and down a slope which may not be suited for those with mobility issues. We are working on hardscaping the backyard area to provide a patio and walkway so please excuse some dirt, tarps, and wheelbarrows at times. :) "Construction" will be limited while guests are present.
We are available to our guests via phone or text. We understand there is a fine balance with privacy and with providing enough information so you have a pleasant stay. We both work full-time so our availability will be limited at times but we are just a text or phone call away if you need anything. We are more than stoked to provide any insight you'd like as to the local area, places to recreate, and places to dine! I grew up in this area so am very familiar with a lot of what the South Puget Sound has to offer!
The hosts have a dog which is not allowed in the guest area but may be encountered in the yard.

Hello! I am Amy, a Washington State native--grew up right here in Tacoma--and work for the USDA where I work with farmers to protect the environment. I also love to hike and am currently planning a thru-hike of the Washington section of the Pacific Crest Trail this summer (511 miles!). My husband Phil is originally from New Jersey but moved West to follow a surfing passion right after high school graduation. He is a nurse and is still an avid surfer and spends quite a bit of time traveling both to the Washington coast and Latin and South Americas hunting out gnarly waves. In the past 5 years we've traveled to Asia, South America, and Latin America, but neither of us can shake the feeling that the Pacific Northwest really is the place called home.
We can share local wisdom (hints about the best places to eat, find local food/farms, drink beer/wine, hike, paddle, climb, and listen to live music) or give you some space to unwind and enjoy the beauties that the PNW has to offer.
Five things we cannot live without: mountains, waves, laughter, beer, and our furry friend.
