We stayed at the Blue Wren Farmhouse on the June long weekend. The location was really good (just 5 mins drive from town) and on a road with lots of cellar doors.
The host Paul was very accommodating, offering us an early check in and late checkout which we didn't use but appreciated nonetheless. The bed was new and very comfortable, with nice linen and the size of the room was (URL HIDDEN) was huge). The room also had a new Apple TV with lots of movies pre installed.
The only downside was the room we had with the ensuite was right next to the front door, loungeroom and shared a wall with the dining room so the noise from other guests using the dining area late at night to drink/play cards was a bit of an issue as it felt like they were inside our room with us. We could hear everything and they were pretty loud. So it was definitely lacking in feeling private or romantic.
The other thing was cooking smells in the morning from other guests doing a greasy fry-up which also came directly in which was a bit unpleasant first thing. The other bedrooms are located on the other side of the lounge room thru a door so perhaps it's less of an issue there.
Apart from the noise/smell factor we enjoyed our stay. Only other comment would be that it would be nice to have a few paintings on the walls to give a finishing touch and to warm up otherwise very cold/minimalistic decor. Appreciated the earth-friendly toiletries and the host being so accommodating.
Thanks for having us.
