Le Santé is a former hunting lodge turned writers' retreat in the French Montaignes Noires. The building dates from the 1800s when it housed 11 people. The property has 15ha of woods, meadows and a fishing lake visited by the local herons. There are beautiful walks to do on the grounds and in the nearby countryside and you can eat local while you're here - with bread, milk and goat's cheese delivered twice a week and excellent beef from the next door neighbour, which can be ordered in advance.
You must have a project proposal that you intend to complete while you are here in order to be eligible to stay.
Outside: Pine and beech forests, with writing spots, a fishing lake with an island and a rowing boat, meadows with wild flowers, spring water from our own sources, the chance to chop your own wood and learn chainsaw safety from a professional teacher, watch birds of prey circling in the clouds, learn to fly a top of the range drone camera, or get up early to spot the deer and wild boar in the morning mists - all while Flirt, the house cat, does your mousing for you...
Inside: Your bedroom, shared bathroom with shower (bath available but only in the ensuite to master bedroom), shared living room with sofas and fireplace, shared kitchen, music productions facilities (2x mics, 3x guitars, semi weighted keyboard, logic pro x), film production facilities (top spec iMac, 4k drone camera, Final Cut Pro, Kodak PixPro for 360/VR filming), Best internet connection available in this area with wifi around house and on terrace (limited to 40GB/month total). Communal meals (optional), and nightly sharing sessions between the guests to move your creative projects forward.
I am a published writer and musician with a degree from Oxford University (English and French literature) and a masters from UEA (Scriptwriting). I specialise in heart-felt and personal projects and I'll be available to mentor the completion of your project while you're here. (2 x 30 min sessions included with a week's booking).
I'll be living at Le Santé while you are here, as the kind of househusband in residence, making sure everything runs smoothly and people's projects are the primary focus. Everyone will be expected to contribute in some way to the communal side of the living arrangements, whether that's cooking, cleaning or keeping the fire stocked with wood etc. Each according to their ability.
You'll need a car to get here, or to pay €50 for a lift from the airport, which is much cheaper than a taxi. (€50 for up to 4 from the airport).
