A haven in the Himalayas on the left bank 3km from Manali.
Prini Ropa was built in 1985 as a family home. Using traditional building techniques and materials (pine wood and stone) the house is set in a secluded garden. The light and meditative space makes it an ideal place for painters, writers, trekkers, or anyone who just wants to soak in and enjoy the majestic Himalyas.
I grew up in this house in the 1980's from where my parents ran Manali's first trekking company. I love the house and visit as much as I can (not often enough) from delhi where I now live and work. We are using Airbnb so that hopefully more people will get to enjoy and use the house.
I have many close friends in Prini and Manali so there is a wonderful community feel to the place, while at the same time it is also secluded and private. Sunita who live 5 mins away now looks after the house. She is efficient, can solve almost any problem and is a wonderful host. She can also help put you in touch with people to organise any local excursions / activities. I highly recommend walking up towards Hampta at the back of the house. Its a private hydro project road so the number of cars allowed is limited. It has the most wonderful views of the Vally and you can reach by just walking out of the house and up the hill.
The house also has a new beautiful studio space which has been used for art residencies, yoga and retreats. This space can also be available upon request. Its veranda as seen in the photos is always available for use and a great place to enjoy the garden and hills from.
Geeta her husband Rakesh who life in a part of the house take care of the house on a daily basis, clean and can cook excellent simple India food.
I hoe you enjoy the house. Please write if you have any questions.
